USA 2016: Russian Hill's Lombard Street, San Francisco, California

Did you know that San Francisco has a total of 44 hills?

One of the known hills there is called the Russian Hill, one of the original Seven Hills. Of all the places I've gone too (Wow nemen parang ang dami na! hahaha of all the places pa alam haha!), San Francisco has the most interesting landscape. Actually, months before I knew I was going to the states, I watched a viral video in Facebook wherein they were dancing along the streets of San Fo. I thought, it was just one street but it turns out that the roads and streets especially in the Bay Area are all hilly.

I've found a website wherein you can see the steepness of each street in San Francisco, check it out here: link.

Russian Hill is a neighborhood and its most famous landmark is the Lombard Street which I have included in this post. Before going there, it was only Lombard and Golden Gate Bridge that I think of when someone mentions San Fo to me.

Victorian Houses?

If you're going there, might as well visit the Painted Ladies. It's the most famous Victorian Houses in San Fo.

We found a parking space in front of Lombard Street.

I don't get why I looked thin in pictures. Hahaha. When got back, most people were like, "Hala, kala ko namayat ka na?" Tapos sabayan pa ng, "Nangitim ka lalo." HAHAHAHAHA. THANK YOU HA! Ganda ng pang-welcome eh. :))

The Famous Lombard Street

We've drove there for three times. I read somewhere that those beside this street are the more expensive properties in San Fo.

We decided to walk upwards and not just settle from looking at it from the other side of the road.
The view you'll see from there is another hill called the Telegraph Hill where the Colt Tower is located. Ang ganda pa ng buhok ko! Kainis. Can I live in San Francisco, universe? :)) Isang Pacific Ocean lang naman ang layo sa'kin eh! haha!

This is the left bottom picture of my new blog banner. :)
First person point-of-view

San Francisco Bay, Oakland Bridge, Colt Tower, and the beautiful flowers of Lombard Street.

This was featured before in a Kapuso mo, Jessica Soho documentary and I never thought that I'll be given a chance to visit there hehe. Salamat, universe!

Lombard Street Selfie. :))

The view at my back kind of reminded me of Amalfi Coast in Italy even if I haven't been there. HAHAHA! Kasi naman the colorful hill houses. Someday diba? :))
In case you're wondering,  the switchbacks were created to slow drivers down. This is also considered as the most crooked street in San Francisco, but it's not the steepest.

Do you drive?
Is Lombard Street a part of your "road bucketlist"?

Over Rice, New York Halal Inspired, Katipunan, Quezon City

These are the current items on their menu. They will be adding more to the list in the coming months.

The food names and their prices aren't readable in the picture but I'll be linking their Facebook page below so no worries. Take note though that the food they serve aren't authentic halal, they're Halal Inspired. New York Halal Inspired that is.
You can see your food being made.

As much as it's entertaining to watch your food cooked in front of you, I dig the take out counter of Over Rice. It's a plus for me how convenient it is to get a to-go food there. At least there are more delicious and affordable options for people who would buy their food before heading home or before facing the (minsan lang naman or hindi lang talaga minsan) insane traffic ordeal of Katipunan. Yup, tama na 'yung fastfood when you can get real food naman for the same price, diba? Chos. :))

Pero more than that, the take counter is being true to its name 'cause of the fast-paced lifestyle of New Yorkers wherein they just grab their food from a food stall then just eat it fast or eat it while walking.

Hi Chef! Cohen and Aldous sa glass reflection.

While waiting for our food, we all agreed with how witty and well thought of the names of their sauce are. The bottles here are Overrice's version of hot sauce with their names: Pwet Goes Boom, and Pwet Goes Boom Boom! It was so catchy that even if I have a low threshold for spicy food, I tried these too.

P 99.00

This is a mixed order so this has beef and chicken on top of the rice.

I like that they put in two slices of pita bread there just to balance out the tastes of the meat, crema de mama and rice.

I am a strawberry person but it's very rare that I enjoy strawberry shakes because some tastes like they just added an artificial strawberry flavoring in theirs. It's a given that it's hard to source fresh strawberries here in Manila so they use frozen strawberry but it's none of my concern because the blend of this was just perfect especially when paired with the meals.

Ito 'yung akala mo, hindi mo na kaya pero kayang kaya mo pa pala. HAHAHA!

I got full already after having the Over Rice 'cause that's a full meal na, pero when we were served this Gyro. Sabi ko, tikim lang but I ended up eating everything. We even asked for the sauce 'cause we couldn't get enough of the crema de mama.

This is my favorite of the three that we ate there that night. There are two sizes. The one in the picture is their regular size gyro and they have a giant gyro which is 10 inches long.

Over Fries

Over na! Or pwede pa?

Syempre pwede pa.

For those who would rather eat there with their friends or want something to eat while waiting for their order, this one's a must-try. The question that was asked that night was, "How to eat this?" Of course, there isn't a right or a wrong way in eating this. Depends lang on your preference. Ako, I ate this using fork. Wala lang. Just want to have the fries and the toppings in once forkfull. Ganern forkfull kasi for hindi spoon. HAHAHA.

Thank you Overrice and Team Aldous for a super and over filling night!

Over Rice

Golan Arcade, Katipunan

Over Rice is very easy to locate.

This I have proven to be true 'cause when I posted the picture of the food I ate there on my Facebook account, a lot of my friends asked me where it is located exactly and I would tell them, "Terminal ng Katipunan - Balara/ Katipunan - UP na jeep. Dun banda sa tulay. Medyo baba ng SM Blue Condo. " And all the time they answered me, "Okay. Alam ko na. Thank you"

And my food buddies that night!

USA 2016: Colt Tower, San Francisco, California

I saw the replica of Colt Tower first at Legoland, California. We also saw this on our first night in San Francisco while we were in Pier 39.

You can't see the Colt Tower in this picture though, but it's the Oakland - San Francisco bridge on the right and Lombard Street (the first street on the right too)
The city view is good in this area. (Ganda ng flag, noh?)

So if you're into skylines like me, better head to this part of the Telescope Hill.

You may climb the stairs, ride the tram, or drive your car all the way to the Colt Tower area.
And there's an even higher place you can look into if you're willing to pay $7 for an elevator ride which we decided to forego.
I thought this was a paid restroom, turned out it's just a high-tech one that is programmed to disinfect itself after each use. Hahaha! Nagpa-picture talaga ko, noh. :)))

Sinabihan ako, "Sa banyo talaga?"

Bakit ba when this is the coolest public restroom I've seen!
I moved then, ayan na ah, hindi na mukhang sa banyo! May mapa na ng San Francisco. haha!
What it looks like inside. haha!!!

I really had to take pictures inside. I'm so sorry that I'm not sorry. :)))
For me, the view and the Colt Tower aren't the only ones worth visiting here. haha! This self-cleaning public restroom is an attraction already. I'm serious. You have to use this once in your lifetime.
We skipped going up the escalator because of the fee. We've pretty much saw everything from all the skyline viewing area we went to anyway.
Bakit pag-uwi ko, buhaghag na naman?!
And finally, this is the Colt Tower.

USA 2016: Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco, California

History of the Palace of Fine Arts here.

Sabi siguro ng San Francisco Bay nung nakita ako, "Winelcome kita sa paraang alam ko!" haha! After the memorable way of welcoming me, we couldn't find any restroom. I was left with no choice but to change clothes in the car so I was only able to change my shirt, wait until my shorts dry, and used wet wipes to wipe the other parts of my body just in case the salt content of the seawater might solidify ganyan. haha.

What kind of unforgettable thing did the San Francisco Bay chose to do to welcome me? Link: here.

Not knowing what we were about to see, we went down and checked this Palace of Fine Arts out. 1. No entrance fee. 2. Looks cool.
The Rotunda dome and Europe feels. :)

While do I feel that Europe tour is so attainable after US trip?! Grabe life! Hindi nauubos ang listahan. :((
The Hunger games Exhibition
To give you an idea of how high it is. And yes, I'm a six footer. Hahaha!
Man-made lagoon.
Rotunda viewed from the outside.

There's a replica of this in Disney California Adenture, I am just not sure if I was able to take a picture of it but it housed the Little Mermaid ride.
High columns. So Rome! Huhuhu Soon
Kapit lang mga te! Kung gugustuhin mo naman talaga, magiging worth it 'yan. Ginusto ko na lang talagang bumitaw kasi hindi na worth it ipaglaban para sa'kin. HAHAHAHA. Geh. Hugot pa more.

USA 2016: Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, California

There are a lot of areas in San Francisco where you can take good pictures with the Golden Gate Bridge. We went to four: two of them are here in this post, and the other two in a separate post.

For this: 1. Hawk Hill, Marin County and 2. Battery Spencer, Marin County
You can use your GPS while driving to get to the area. From experience, GPS is usually reliable there in the USA.
Hawk Hill

This one's higher than the Battery Spencer view area.

I kind of envy those people who went there during the summer because of San Francisco's fog but yeah, just like what the captain (Pier 39) said, we're lucky that we went there on a clear day because San Fo is usually foggy. But still dibaaaa. Take me back, Mt. Tamalpais please! :))
This is where you're gonna get a good panoramic view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Area.
We drove around, and down to the battery spencer area. It's a good thing that we found an empty parking slot 'cause Battery Spencer is actually the best view for me.
'Cause when you take the picture here, you'll have the entire San Francisco in your back too.

Oftentimes, the Golden Gate Bridge pictures that I see are usually taken from this perspective.

Soon, fog city, I'll be back soon.
Look for me na, Samsung S7 Edge! Find me before I head for my next trip so I can take better selfies. hahaha!
After the two view points, we drove to the other two.

There are toll gates after driving through the Golden Gate Bridge. Weren't we supposed to pay a fee or something? 'Cause we crossed the bridge for 12 times and yet not once did we paid for it. Oh well... :)

USA 2016: Golden Gate Bridge from Fort Point, San Francisco, California

I forgot where this photo was taken but it was a quick stop before heading to Fort Point. If Battery Spencer of Marin County has the best view of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco, Fort Point offers the best experience, at least for me.
You can go to Fort Point following your GPS.
After several pictures, the waves of the San Francisco Bay decided to welcome me in the most special way.
The wave from the bay got a little high that it reached me as I turned around and checked my phone.
Look at that person who was surfing and look at me taking everything in. hahaha. Without even thinking that if that person is able to surf then the waves must be high, right? :))) Feel na feel ko pa eh.
I turned around and then the wave hit me! Ako lang talaga! The two cars on my side didn't even got wet. What the heck, waves!

I shouted so loud because I was surprised that even if the other tourists didn't notice the wave, they still looked towards me and then they saw how drenched I was. haha!
Buti na lang, hindi dagat na basura. haha. I was forced to change into other clothes. Huhuhu. My hair got wet too and I had no more shorts so I just had to bear with it, let it air dry, and hope that the smell of the ocean water will fade with the sun.

Not when I bought this before our trip just so I'll have new clothes to wear sa pictures in San Francisco. Kalurkey!
