Japan: Uji Omotesando, Kyoto
This experience is the pinnacle of my matcha addiction. Also the day when I spent the most for matcha powders and matcha flavored food. Did I regret?
Not at all.
We did a DIY trip but Klook has a tour package you might consider wherein you'll be able to visit Kyoto - Uji - Nara in one day.
We went here after vising Fushimi Inari which is also in Kyoto. Rain eventually stopped in the afternoon but it was raining during our entire stay in Uji. While that didn't stop me and my shopping, we chose to just stay in Byodo-in Omotesando. We even forgo entering Broyodo-in because we it was difficult to walk around.
There are definitely a lot more to see in Uji aside from the Omotesando so I am still hoping for a revisit. Probably visit more matcha teashops or matcha plantations.
A lot of shops were only accepting cash so I had to ask first if they were taking cards before buying especially those who sold matcha powders.
Nakamura Tokichi
One of the best powdered I've tried. I haven't tried MK matcha powders though because I backout whenever I see their prices. Haha. Yea, even when I saw them being sold in a tea shop in Sugamo, Tokyo. I chose a different brand.
I probably ate too much matcha stuff in Uji that I no longer crave matcha desserts nor any matcha food. If not a latte, then I only have soft-served matcha ice creams these days.
The solid perfume smelled a lot like Elizabeth Arden's green tea but this one is more of a skin scent without strong sillage and projection. It's just a scent that stays with you.
Panic buying much.
Aboard the train heading to our next destination, I finally had the chance to stop, take a look at the receipts and compute how much damage the matcha powder and matcha food trip costed me. I remember being "shocked" 'cause I spent too much and being able to breathe deeply and just accept the fact that I bought a lot in Japan... as always. HAHAHA
