Free movies, anyone?

For those in Baguio and Cebu, you're the next stop of the KOREAN FILM FESTIVAL.

It wasn't planned but since my friends and I were given tickets, we headed to SM Megamall and watch whatever is there.  And the 4:30 scheduled movie happened to be ARAHAN which description didn't do any justice to it. I thought that I'd get bored or something but the movie's so good, just watch it and you won't be disappointed, really.

And I just have to give props to the crowd who watched Arahan with me last Saturday for being responsive. I mean, isn't it great to have the other viewers react and laugh with you while watching?

PS. Also, I believe the screenings were all jumpacked. I didn't notice it at first since we had decent seats, but there were people standing and some were already seating on the aisles. Line up early since its free admission. :)

I almost forgot about this.
The experiment of PVA Glue Base Coat

I did this before I slept.

A gradient of pink to red with a glitter top coat.
I really liked how this turned out.
But then on the second day... there were already chippings.

Well, they aren't really noticeable from afar except for my right thumb.
And I just couldn't help it. I started peeling everything off.
My two days nail art.

Okay,

For those who often change their nail polishes, this is something you might want to try. You wouldn't have to frequent using acetone or nail polish removers anymore. They're drying and aren't really advised to use them often.

However, for people who prefer to have their nail polishes on for a week or more, you might just want to settle for regular base coats. But this one is really convenient for glitter polishes though.

"They are actually not poor because they have Jesus."

HAPAG NG PAG-ASA

I have been keeping a copy of this painting in my room for years now.  And tonight, I learned who the painter was. He has already passed away though because of a kidney ailment if I'm not mistaken; but he left something for us and for the future generations as well.

Here I'm sharing with you some pictures of some of his other creations.
Tonight is the launching of this exhibit/gallery which will run starting today (Sept. 18 to 27) at Santurario's Columbary Lobby

I liked the theme in Filipino but I forgot what the words are... but it has "sa mga mata ni San Vicente."
Food for the guests.

And punch as tonight's drinks.
I seriously thought that these were just plain juices at first but I got a little bit dizzy after drinking 5 glasses. haha. Low alcohol tolerance.
Doggy, are you listening to the documentary too?
They projected some scenes from a documentary before the ribbon cutting.
Mr. Velasco's wife did the honors of cutting the ribbon.
"Finding God in the simplicity of life."
I did enjoy looking at the paintings but reading the descriptions gave more emotions to it. (And I don't know if this made sense.)

You don't need to be an art critic to be able to appreciate the beauty of his paintings.
Don't miss your chance and visit here if you're near our area.

This exhibit is one of the programs of our parish in celebration of St. Vincent's feast which will be on Sept. 27.

Also, today is the start of the Novena masses for the feast every 6 PM.

From September 14 - 23, 2012, The Bellevue Hotel Manila is holding 10 days long Korean Festival. BHM is a 5-star hotel somewhere in Alabang. (I know, right?! I traveled farther South!!)

There are Korean Paperdolls (Hanji? Hanji Dolls? Since Hanji's the name of the paper... whatever.) and Paintings that are on exhibit and, of course, their Authentic Korean Buffet!

Last night, we were there for the event launching. Eating in their buffet was totally unexpected, I wasn't on buffet mode (yes, there's a certain appetite mode for buffets! haha) and have just eaten my merienda prior to going there. tsktsk.
These are only some of the foods that were served, I wasn't able to try the grilled foods since the line was a bit long and I just told you, I wasn't that hungry. (Hindi pa 'to gutom, seryoso. haha)
And the food I love way beyond everything else. Tadaaaaaaaah!
Tastes like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, just more creamier and less sweet. Just that, when I went back to get some more, ubos na. What's bitin? These chocolates!!
My first time also tasting some Creme Brulee.
Got so excited to get these desserts.
Authentic Korean desserts. Ohh, so, 'yan pala. :)
Colorful, right? Not from my plate though so I don't know how it tastes like.
Kimchi for souvenir.

I don't know if the offerings for the 10 days buffet are the same, but I don't think they are though. There should be more choices.

Discover more Korean dishes at The Bellevue Hotel for P 1390.00/person and get a chance to win two round trip tickets to Korea  and other gift certificates on the Grand Raffle Draw on September 23. :)

Another Korean Restaurant I was able to eat at is Donu Pork and Beef Korean Grill at Polaris, Bel-Air Makati, just a few blocks away from Wang Mart.

I am not sure of the prices since we shared the whole bill and I wasn't paying attention,
so....

Banchan.

Were they unlimited? We had 2 sets, and another 2 refills which I don't know if the refills were added to our  bill.

소고기

So go gi
Beef
삼계탕

Sam Gye Tang (I don't know if this one's romanized correctly)
But it's a soup with whole chicken and Korean Ginseng

This was something I didn't like at first when I tasted a spoonful but appreciated it when I  combined it with rice.
순두부 찌개

Ssoon du bu chigae
Spicy Tofu Stew

I'm not good with 매운 음식  (me-un-eum-sik)  (spicy foods) so the first time I tried to taste a spoonful of this one, I was in tears! But my friends were like, "Why? It's not that spicy." K. Fine.

Well, not the stinging hotness though. Just chug water then you're ready to eat again. This is also one of the reasons why I love Korean cuisine,I tend to drink more water than usual, and that's healthy. ^^

삼겹살

Sam Gyeop Sal

This would never be forgotten for every Korean Restaurant visit.
The only thing though is they served this frozen and unsliced.

That's the table we ate at.

Busog!!

We attended a wedding ceremony today and it's also Mama Mary's Birthday.
Look at her arc filled with beautiful flowers.

I was on my first grade when I became a Marian; I was a member of the Legion of Mary until I turned 18.  Albeit not being a member of any church organizations as of the moment, I still am a Marian.

In connection with that, I have been wearing a miraculous medal necklace for several years now which I believe is something that keeps me safe and strong to go through everyday.

I have many things to be extremely grateful for yet also a lot of things that I am sorry and regretful for. But for always being there despite all my shortcomings, Thank You!

I tried searching for the easiest way of removing glitter polish online. For those who don't know, yes, they're a beauty but the removing process is a pain! It's hard to get them off.

Here's what I found out:
One way is the foil removal method, soaking a cotton ball with polish remover, place it on top of your nail then secure with aluminum foil, wait for a few minutes then remove. That is wasteful! Not to mention, it's also drying for the nails and cuticles.

The second way I found was to use PVA glue as a base coat so you can just peel them upon removal. Well, I let that idea put to rest since I have no glue at home yet. But as I was cleaning my room, I found a large bottle of crafts glue which has been seating in my cabinet for I don't know how long anymore.

Even though I have decided to let my nails rest for the whole week, I couldn't wait to try this out and I did. The impatient me prevailed- as always.

Here are the polishes used:

PVA Glue as my base coat

OMG by Klik's Sunset

A glitter polish

Caronia Fast Dry Top Coat

THIS TURNED OUT TO BE VERY CHRISTMAS-Y.
Ang Pasko sa 'Pinas, nagsisimula pagsapit ng Setyembre naman eh. Basta -Ber month.

MESSY!

I know, right? Well, this is just an experiment.

One thing you must keep in mind though is to try your best to apply PVA glue evenly. My base color was so bumpy!
It turned into a bit orange-y probably because of the yellow glitters' effect and OMG Sunset isn't a bright red.

After applying the glitter polish and top coat, I was able to sort of even out the bumps.
Upon drying, I decided to start peeling off the glue.

And voilà!

It's really easy, much much much easier than trying to remove stubborn glitter polishes using acetone or nail polish remover.

I'm going to try this again and experiment on how well it performs as a base coat some time after my nails' rest period.

Two collages of our brief stay at Mandarin Oriental Manila.

I didn't have that much photos of the other parts of the hotel. Sayang! Natuwa kami masyado na kasama kami sa pictures.

Their ballroom area, I think.

I love the view!

Taken from a room at the 9th floor, I guess that's BGC over there.

Welcoming September with a Korean buffet!
Came back here after around 3 months.

Here's a series of pictures.

Rate's still " P 299.00/person for a Samgyupsal buffet.
And I got around 10 slices of Kimbap this time.

This one's the new addition, I don't think they have this dips container before.

Sangchu Ssam although the leaf here isn't Sangchu (lettuce)

A peek of their ice cream freezer.
And most of us got this sandwiched cookies and cream ice cream.
Do you know how to write sandwich in Korean?

샌드위치

(sounds like sen-du-wi-chi)

Ice cream bars aren't included in the buffet, we paid them separately.

Up to now, I'm still wondering why the Ate gave us the blue ones for free on our first visit.
