What's at Red Rock?

Red Rock Canyon features a one-way 13-mile scenic drive, a Visitor Center offering information and interpretation about recreation opportunities, hiking and trails, wildlife, vegetation, geology, cultural resources and much more.
Info Source

After Red Springs, we headed to Red Rock not to hike though but only for the scenic drive.

As much as I like to post an informative article on this one, hahaha, I forgot all my geology and all I've read from the information board there. :)))

This was my first "taste" of the canyons. Hihihi.

Oh the wide-open spaces that always have a part of my heart. After seeing a looot, I am still craving for more. <3
Thankful to have seen this in person! Amazebells.

Some people would be like, "O ano meron? Bato?"

Seriously? This landform is so amazing!!! I mean, consider the length of time it took for something this incredible ever changing landscape to form. Charuuu. hahaha. Pero seryoso, I won't replace a day trip with nature for anything.
Model ang peg. haha!
Bat ba hindi ako ready lagi hahaha
Don't ask my why I posed like that, I also don't know. Haha.

Pero mowdel. hahahhaha
Blogger pose. hahaha!

"Oy, 'yung kunyari hindi ako nakatingin."
One of the stops along the scenic drive.

I was hoping to see a tortoise but I didn't haha
Las Vegas air isn't polluted but this is still a breath of fresh air you know, not too away from all the commercialization and city life.

Anyhow, the red rocks are easily noticeable from the strip but I was still surprised that it was this wide.

Ganda huhu
Panorama from the overlook point.
As much as I am willing to name this place, I couldn't search it.
It was in the map that was given an the entrance though.

Basta there are picnic tables here so bring snacks with you. hehe
Come to think of it, I don't have a jump shot for my whole three months there. ahaha! kasi fail. kasi ang bigat. kasi hindi makatalon.

Hello there, Husky!!! <3
Installation art at the dessert.

Kung ano pa talaga 'yung malapit, 'yun pa hindi ko napuntahan. HAHAHA!!!

We ate our lunch here at Red Springs before going to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

Not that easy to believe that this is just an hour (even less) away from the Strip. Las Vegas is known for its hotels and casinos so some still get surprised upon knowing that there are places like this there too... isa na 'ko dun. :))
Mt. Charleston area are those snow-capped mountains. Yup, they're near each other. Feasible for a day tour of "picture taking"
Eating lunch with that kind of background tho also with chipmunks and rabbits nearby. Feeding the wildlife isn't allowed! At ang, "Nako! Kung sa Pilipinas 'to, malamang inuwi na lahat ng rabbit at chipmunk." :>

Madalas nasa tao talaga ang ikinagaganda ng lugar eh, dapat disiplinado lagi. Hehe
Some trek to those rocks where the Calico basin is but we only walked along the boardwalk and the nearby hill.
Think about your place in the natural world...
Lush vegetation it is - thanks to the life-giving spring. <3
Million years ago... can't even imagine. So blessed to see this ever changing landscape. :3 The changes that had to happen for this whole place to look so beautiful. Mas maganda sa Zion. Hihihihi. Wait lungz. :D
Boardwalk is made to preserve the fragile ecosystem this area supports.
Scenic walk.
Along the boardwalk, you'd see information boards such as this.

I really like how organized parks like this are. There isn't any entrance fee here yet it's very well maintained. Pilipinas, tayo rin!!! Please?
Di ko alam kung alin ang mas matigas eh. Ako o 'yung mga bato? Char. HAHAHA!
We trekked the nearby hill to get a better view of the landscape.
And we saw this too. Ganda, noh?

It was the red mountains with lush vegetation vs. the dessert.
Dreamy.

I didn't search a lot about Nevada even if I know I was going there. Why? Hindi ko alam kung pano ko lalakwatsa. All I know was the Strip, Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon (na hindi ko naman napuntahan! HAHAHA!) Pero somehow, the universe conspired and made things happen. HUHUHU. Kaiyak please. #forevergrateful #travelnowpulubilater #pahingamuna

Truth be told, all these travels to National and State Parks? I definitely didn't see them coming before I left the Philippines. As in swear. Truth be told na nga, swear pa. haha!

So when I got there, I met up with my Ninang who told me that there's this mountain near the Strip that they go to because there's snow in that mountain. I was like,"OMG!! Meron snow dito?! :(" Ito isa pa, never ko in-expect na makaka-experience ako ng snow kasi ang alam ko, disyerto ang Nevada. Well, desyerto naman most nung nasa South.

Anyway, my ninang couldn't bring me there because of our conflicting schedules but I found a way/someone. Hahahaha! I thankfully found someone. HAHAHAHAHA. User level while in Las Vegas? Level 1 Million. Pero grabe, friends naman na kame 'yung kind of platonic love/friendship na #mayforever. Syempre if you don't talk to strangers, how can you make friends, diba? :)))) Will always be grateful to all those who've helped me while I was in the USA, especially to my two most special travel buddies. Hope we can have more adventures in the year 2017 - 2018. God willing. hihihi.
This was taken at Spring Mountains National Recreation Area which is a ranger district of the Humboldt - Toiyabe National Forest. First feeling of snow in the air! So cooooooooold but the cold never bothered me anyway.

Copied from the USDA Forest Service Website, "The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest encompasses all of Nevada and the far Eastern edge of California. The name “Humboldt” comes from the explorer John C. Fremont. He named the East Humboldt Mountain Range and the Humboldt River after German naturalist Baron Alexander von Humboldt. “Toiyabe” is an ancient Shoshone word meaning “mountain.” So 'yung Fremont Street pala sa explorer din pinangalan.
At that point, who would've thought that I'll be able to see a lot of places there?! Huhuhuhu. Kakamiss!!!!!! Pero at the same time, ang galing galing... ng skills... ng convincing powers... ng budgeting?! haha!
A lot of people go here for skiing and hiking. It was just that I wasn't snow-ready at all.

The clothes I brought with me in the USA were actually not suited for the cold weather that I experienced last April-May. I expected that it will be hot but it wasn't that hot until late May. I mean, at some nights in our apartment complex we got 6 degrees Celsius (even lower) in temperature. Huhuhu. Kamiss!! :(
This was taken near the cabin area and there was also a restaurant.

Mt. Charleston is only 35 miles away from the Strip.
One of my talents/gifts in life is map reading... always taking the longer (and more scenic. lol.) route nga lang.
One of my many middle of the street pictures.
"Uy, dyan kunyari nag rent tayo ng cabin."
We were supposed to hike to Mary Jane falls but turned back even before reaching 1/8 of the trail. hahaha!
Kaya pala snow cone kasi parang snow 'yung yelo talaga. hahaha!
hihihihi

Hershey's Chocolate World is in New York, New York Casino Hotel. I'll post pictures of that hotel too.

We went here right after M&M's World.
Hershey's Chocolate World is a tourist attraction where you can but different Hershey goodies (DUH), merchandises, and collectibles. Kinda reminded me of the Hershey store in Sentosa, Singapore only this is a lot bigger and better and farther. hahaha.
You get to fill your own bag with different kinds of kisses for $ 6.95 per 1/2 lbs. Not bad I think since it's personalized and you only get those you want.
Statue of Liberty made from chocolate. Huhu. Sana next time, makarating ako ng East Coast.:))
KISSES AND REESE.

I didn't buy anything there but I really wanted to return to have my picture printed on a chocolate bar wrapper. 'Cause they have this personalize your chocolate bar thing where you'll be able to have your photo printed with your special message on the wrapper. HAHAHA. I really wanted to bring one home for my mother but I didn't have the time anymore. But there will be a next time. Hihi.
Buti pa this jowa, very understanding. haha.

'Cause for me and chocolate (and matcha)? #foreverexists

Or maipilit lang? :))

So the, "Update this blog as often as I can" was that once a month post when I was still in the USA.

Three months in USA was definitely not the "life" I had imagined hahahahaha it was waaaaaaaay more dramatic and more spontaneous than what I was thinking of before I left the Philippines. It's the kind of lifestyle I have never expected to adjust to that easily. It's the kind of lifestyle I never thought I can survive- but what's more amazing is I know I thrived. But maybe it's also because I've met the right people too that I was able to enjoy that much.

At first, I knew where I was going (Nevada-California Stateline) but aside from that, I didn't know anything that I was about to do and experience. I left it all to fate, seryoso. Since I didn't have my laptop with me and the internet connection wasn't really stable from where I lived, I now kind of regret not blogging when the feelings and events were "fresher," but then again everything that happened I am more than grateful to cherish them through pictures and in my heart and mind. <3

Hello naman sa Instagram account ko, achieve all the geotag goals!!! HAHAHA. I didn't upload because I wanted a feed filled with my US travels but because I wanted to geotag the photos. Like what I've said before, whenever I feel sad, looking at all those photos makes me happy.

You will always be my home, Las Vegas!!!!

Before I left, I can tell you that I am that kind of person who is used to being alone. But in Vegas? I became that kind of person who is comfortable being alone. There's
a big difference. I felt perfectly fine with my own company, like it's the most natural thing in the world.

The first few days being there, I was talking to someone and I told her na "Parang di ko kaya 'yun, 'yung mag-isa ka lang as in the whole day ka mag-isa nang walang kausap." She told me, "Why? There's nothing wrong with that. Hindi naman kailangan all the times e may kasama ka't kausap. Ganyan ako minsan and I don't care." Fast forward to the me who's typing this kung pwede ko lang siya ulit kausapin, "Oo nga. I don't care too."

One of the posts I read before I left was the Staying Philosophy and I quote, "
you don’t just find love, adventure or freedom. More than anything, you find you."

I am glad that in just three months, I found all four and this is the reason why leaving was very hard to do that I got sick when I was packing my things and felt even worse when I arrived in the Philippines. But I am okay now, needed the weekend to rest, move on, and accept that I am here again. May in denial phase ba talaga ganon?!
"You get a strange feeling when you leave a place. Like you'll not only miss the people you love, but you'll miss the person you are at this time and place because you'll never be this way ever again." Thank you, #lasvegas❤❤❤ I would stay and love you (even more) but I have to go kasi masyado na ko naging sugarol, lakwatsera, lasinggera ganyan...👣 HAHAHAHAHA.🤗

Let me tell you a secret...
When I took this picture, I was calling and sending messages to people I've become close with telling them goodbyes and that it was my pleasure meeting them. I suck at goodbyes, well, I suck at attachments, commitments or anything relationship related so it was definitely something, you know. I could have just left not saying a word to everyone but I didn't - I said goodbye, I said thanks, I said see you again soon, I said I'll miss you. Even to those persons I clearly said that there would be no strings attached. WHUT?! HAHAHAHAHA. Pero seryoso, big step 'yon for someone na hindi masyadong marunong mag-express kung gaano niya vina-value 'yung human relationships na meron siya. The Tin there wanted closure. She longed for closure. She sort of insisted for closure even to an unworthy person (LUH). That's new. That's a good progress in this stage called "Adulting." I liked that change.

I hope I can change to a better person - a person who knows how to feel ganyan. hehehe. :))))))

Let me tell you a darker secret...
I drank bottles of bud light and cried for a while.
Call me crazy but I have always wanted to try drinking alone because I feel sad and it happened IN VEGAS pa ha. HAHAHAHA.

I was in the 37th floor of Planet Hollywood Hotel, alone, looking at the night lights, remembering all the craziness that happened, welcoming sadness as if he was that friend I've been wanting to say goodbye to as well, hoping that I'll feel better the next day because I was scheduled to leave for California. But more importantly, I was also praying and giving thanks for everything.

Grabe! My words will never be enough to describe how "magical" those three months were. Not in a sense na, it was perfect and it was all happy moments pero kasi alam mo 'yun, never ko talaga inasahan eh. Akala ko pupunta lang ako 'yun lang 'yun, akala ko 'yung alis ko e sa San Diego lang 9 days bago ko umuwi. Pero four states?! Pero lahat nang 'yon?! OMG.

Ending this chapter the way I started it. Yup, with a looooooooooooooong flight alone. ❤❤❤ I never thought I'll get this attached that leaving hurts.😭 See you next time, USA! It wasn't easy but definitely worth it. Hihi. Also, my values got challenged and I got hurt mga ganyan but all good; had to happen as a part of this wonderful experience. Tbh, I still can't believe how I survived those roller coaster of events and emotions. Hihi. I'm going home as a much better and stronger person (maybe😜) Anyhow, all the positives overpowered all the negatives.❤ haha! It was a grace-filled three months indeed and what happened were all more than I was hoping for and expecting (especially the casino all nighters haha and sige, long drives to four states) so I'll be forever grateful. Here's to more adventures and more breathtaking moments!💙💚💛💜 The #lifeichose is getting this kind of heartbreak again and again and again. Pleaaaaaaaaaase. 😂 #travel #wanderlust #lifewelltraveled #california #wheretonext #wildflower #blogpostbato hahahahaha

To more adventures and breathtaking moments! :)) HIHIHIHI. PLEAAAAAAAAASE.

Pero alam mo, I realized din how important 'yung mga small things para maging possible 'yung mga big things. I think 'yun 'yung need ko talaga ulit matutunan, na kahit anong bagay 'yan e part of the puzzle. Maliit man o malaki. So yeah. for the 6 months na natitira sa 2016. :))) I WILL BE BETTER. <3 I claim that the next months will be more colorful, more prosperous (VERY VERY VERY MUCH NEEDED) and more memorable hindi lang syempre for me but for you as well
.

GOD BLESS US!

May we be blessed that we can also be a blessing to others. hihi
