This field of flowers was our biggest expense and the farthest place we've gone to in Taiwan but it was my favorite day despite the pictures... :))) Ewan ko ba! HAHAHAHA.

[Klook Link] Chung-She Flower Garden Tour in Taichung

We took the HSR (High Speed Rail) from Taipei Main Station to Taichung Station. The train ride lasted an hour for NTD 670 and NTD 700.

EVENTHOUGH,

Houli Station, Fengyuan Station, Tai'ian station should be closer to the flower market.

What we did was;

From Taichung Train station, we hailed a cab that drove us to Houli. Since time constraint was a factor back then, we didn't have the option to choose a transportation that costs less (though I have no idea what that is) than a cab ride because we need to be fast.

Explaining where we wanted to go was difficult because of the language gap and lack of internet connection but the cab driver was patient with us. To be sure and to make it easier for you and the cab driver, do not forget to screen capture the map, the name of the place in both English and Chinese, and even download an offline map. When he finally understood where we wanted to go, he told us that a lot of Filipinos go to that flower market.

While the entrance fee for the flower market was around 200 PHP only, they offer a promo of availing an unlimited bbq which was inclusive of the flower market entrance fee but I forgot the price.

PICTURES OF THE BUFFET AND FLOWER MARKET:

And what the cab driver said about the Filipinos that frequent this area was so true!! This was the only place we went to where almost everyone eating were Filipinos. Hello, unlimited chargrilled bbq kaya yan!

We didn't eat a lot during our stay in Taipei but this Taichung meal right here was a different story. Lahat ata ng hindi namin naikain for the past three days, dito namin binawi eh.

After a filling lunch, we proceeded to the flower farm.

Ang lala nung mga pictures. IDK why. Baka dahil busog?! But the place was really beautiful.

After around 1 and 1/2 hours of picture taking (I don't think the time we alloted will be enough for other people), we went back to the parking area because uncle cab driver was waiting for us. He was so kind really that he waited until we're finish so he can drive us to our next destination which was the Rainbow Village.

We would've stayed longer in Taichung if we could but it was already our flight out of Taiwan that night and we had to ride the 5 PM HSR train back to Taipei so we were also in a hurry.

This flower farm was our question mark and yet our nonnegotiable must-visit  place so we're glad that we found a way and made it back on time to catch our TPE - MNL flight.

Madali lang naman pala.

If you're travelling in group, maybe you can hire a cab or a tour operator since the tourist attractions in Taichung are far from each other and riding a bus isn't always an option.

If you're doing a DIY then research more on alighting at Houli or Fengyuan station. What we did was alright - if there's one thing that I would've done differently, that was going to Taichung earlier... or maybe not din kasi longer sleep is better?! Basta ayun, if you're doing a DIY then day tour lang make sure you have enough time exploring Taichung. There's still a lot of places to see aside from the flower farm and rainbow village which I'll be blogging about in the coming days.

For this part, I'll write about the things you should do if you'll also take the midnight Cebu Pacific fight.

I am not sure if this 2:05 AM was the time we landed in Taiwan or was the time when we went through the immigration counter. Nonetheless, we still had a time to spare since the first bus ride to Taipei Main Station was at around 5 AM.

It was chilly during our trip in Taiwan but that morning, it was way colder than what we expected.

Things we did at the airport while waiting:

1. Changed PHP to NTD. (we researched on this and from what we found out, it was better to change PHP directly to NTD instead of changing PHP to USD to NTD. Also, the money changer in the airport offers good exchange rate)
2. Bought a transport card (at the convenience store)
3. Ate (at the convenience store)
4. Slept at the nearest available couch. :))

Sleeping at airport couches didn't seem weird at all since other people were doing it too. Above is where I took a nap for around 2 hours. We woke up and the bus to Taipei was already running. According to the signs, there's a shower area there so we changed clothes first to get ready for a long day ahead... punas, hilamos, toothbrush lang ganern kasi hindi naman namin nakita 'yung shower area. Walang choice eh. Travel isn't always comfortable, 'di ba? haha!

After an hour of bus ride, we arrived at Taipei Main Station.

So concerns are:

Well, well, well, Taipei Main Station is there to rescue us. :))

Dapat makaisip sila nung check-in na 12 noon hanggang 12 midnight, noh? Sakto sana sa oras ng flight. ahaha.

Before anything else, we ate first pa rin. :)) There's a Mcdonald's counter in Taipei Main Station since most of the food stores were still closed that time. Ang daming pwedeng kainan pero sarado pa that time ehh.

After eating, we looked for a locker. There are a lot of lockers in Taipei Main Station and are of different sizes so worry not for the security of your things... though syempre, kung may importanteng gamit e wag pa rin iwan.

Take a picture of your locker and the place where it is located since Taipei Main Station can get really confusing especially when the stores are open already.

Download their MRT and BUS app in your phone so you can navigate easily since it can get confusing as well.

After an exhausting yet fun-filled day, we went back to Taipei Main Station to get our bags and check-in.

Our room was in Ximending but there weren't any signs and we weren't able to contact the room owner for we didn't have internet almost the whole day so thankfully, someone helped us call the owner.

Hotels in Ximending are, I think, your best choices when it comes to finding accommodations in Taipei. There's a nearby MRT station and it's a tourist attraction by itself.

We hired a cab since we were already tired and the cab driver was so nice that even though he doesn't soeak English, he called someone who understands English so she can help us find which street we were going. At times when traveling takes you to people who wants nothing but to take advantage of you, you'll feel nothing but gratefulness towards people like the people who helped us find our "home" in Taipei. Madami pang mabait sa mundo. May we always be surrounded by them. :))

At the end of the picturesque Maokong Cable Car, you'll reach Maokong Village which is known for its tea culture and different beginner-friendly hiking trails.

[Klook Link] Maokong Gondola Combo Ticket in Taipei

The Village became a quick stop for us since the day was ending (fast) when we got here; we stayed for only three hours so we weren't able to explore the hiking trails (something that I was looking forward to tbh, because I still dream of having my photo taken in a tea field. lol)

Instead, we just ate since there were a lot of food options there! :3

Whatever this is, this became one of my favorite food in Taiwan.

Make use of your coins when you're travelling abroad unless you want to keep those as souvenirs.

One thing I was really looking forward back then was tasting this soft-served matcha ice cream in Maokong. I'd search for Maokong in Instagram before our trip and this ice cream was always posted in the tagged photos.

We tried to walk for a bit to find more places to explore but it was drizzling so we weren't able to.

That place above is what I wanted to visit.

But heck

Being surrounded by fog, mountains, and low-lying clouds were all I needed to make this trip a very memorable one.

Aside from cat statues, there are some 3D paintings in the village.

We wanted to take the bus down the mountain but soon decided to just take the cable as well.

AYUN NAMAN PALA KASI 'YUNG MUZHA! NGAYON KO LANG NABASA. HAHAHA

It took us a while to ride a cabin since the line was long... still got to ride before sundown.

Should I find myself again in Taipei, I'll be visiting Maokong once again.

The beautiful, cool and chill place is Maokong is perfect for us mga Teata! LAMOYON.  <3

Visa-free Taiwan for Filipinos

I was only reminded that I haven't posted about our complete Taiwan trip when the announcement that Taiwan has decided to extend the visa-free entry of Filipino passport holders.

Summary of our Taiwan trip last December link: here.

[Klook Link] Maokong Gondola Combo Ticket in Taipei

In order to get to the station, you need to ride the Brown Line of their MRT to Taipei Zoo. What we did was we first explored the Taipei Zoo before riding the cable car to Maokong. Allot enough time for this place because Taipei Zoo is huge plus Maokong Peak and Zhinan Temple are places of interests as well.

You can use the your Metro Card to pay for the zoo and for the cable car ride.

We were able to ride the crystal cabin on our way to the top. Lucky us there weren't lines when we got there.
The rate is $120ntd/adult per way, the charge is the same for the regular and glass bottom cabins. The line of tourist is just the problem because the latter definitely has longer line on most days.

I've ridden a cable car in Genting Highlands in Malaysia, San Jacinto State Park in California, Wynn Hotel and Guia Hill in Macau but Taiwan's Maokong Gondola is my favorite so far.

First reason is because of the crystal cabin that we rode since the greenery/forest below can easily be seen and it's way more exciting because of the glass floor.

It's not expensive and you can see the cityscape of Taipei and the lush forest while riding.

From Taipei Zoo, there's a stop in Zhinan Temple - a temple complex you can explore should you have enough time. We weren't able to go down this stop 'cause we felt that we were running out of time.

This is the Maokong Station where you'll ride the cable car down. I'll create a separate post about Maokong too.

After spending around three hours in Maokong, we decided to ride the cable car down already to beat the crowd. The time of operations is: 8:30AM to 9PM

It was continuously drizzling that day hence, the view.

This is really a must-visit when in Taiwan because it's not all the time that you can ride a cable car. <3
If you're riding the cable car a bit late, I believe there's a light and fountain show near the Taipei Zoo MRT station every Friday - Sunday nights.
