The Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery, UPTC

Once you open this magazine-type menu, I assure you that you're gonna have a hard time choosing what you like because EVERYTHING looks good. Looking at the photos of their food is already a feast in itself.

How many times have we become victims of Expectation vs. Reality when it comes to the food that we ordered? As you can see above, The Fat Seed is consistent with their "instagram-worthy" plating.

Mushroom Fritters
Deep fried oyster mushroom served with homemade ketchup

If they didn't inform us that this were mushrooms, I wouldn't immediately recognize what it is. I found this really good and it's like a healthier alternative to french fries and chicharon even.

Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Ube Waffle in Salted Egg Sauce
ube waffles with buttermilk fried chicken, bacon infused maple syrup, salted egg sauce and picked red onion

Two persons can actually share this dish especially because the chicken fillet was quite big and having those four ube waffle is filling already. I loved the combination of their maple syrup and salted egg sauce with the ube waffle! <3

The Fat Seed Signature Porkchop
beer brine porkchop, creamy deli mustard sauce, homemade miso, sweet potato

Wagyu Pares
Wagyu beef cubes with beef broth served with fried rice and shao xing rice wine

THIS DISH SO REMINDED ME OF HIGH SCHOOL! ALL CAPS PARA INTENSE, BESHY. :))))
From the silver lunchbox that is used as its container to the beef pares memories definitely brought me back to those good old days... when life was way simpler. Me ganun?! ehehe

Our high school comfort food made really better especially since it has wagyu cubes.

Hotate Soy Cream Pasta
Japanese soy cream, scallops, ebiko, bonito flakes, nori shreds

Eventhough the combination of ingredients seemed a bit weird to me at first but you know, whatever works, works. Out of all the food that we had that night, this is the one that I'm craving for the most.

I wasn't able to take pictures of their entire wall. Not only are their food very "instagrammable," the place itself is also.

The whole place is very cozy and artsy as you may notice. It is also kind of conducive for studying as you'd notice a lot of students there especially after school hours. The Fat Seed did really great in their different take on the Filipino coffee shop experience.

It's only now that I'm starting to drink coffee so I was able to taste this. Although I'd still choose matcha in a heartbeat, at least I am now able to taste coffee.

And this iced coffee is something that coffee-lovers will appreciate. Hindi pa man tunaw 'yung buong coffee cubes pero feeling na hindi ka na matutulog. This one is perfect for students that are reviewing/studying 'cause unlike other iced cofee that becomes diluted overtime, the coffee in this drink obviously becomes more concentrated.

Peaberry Brew

Peaberry is from a coffee bean that is smaller and rounder than the coffee bean we usually see (flatbean). This one tastes and smells different because it has a citrusy (?) acidic kick to it.

Watch out for the cocktail drinks above.

Rojito and Purple Haze

Best taken after exams?! :))) I found purple haze too strong for me though so I prefer Rojito. Despite its liquor content, it kind of feels refreshing - probably because of the mint.
