Matchawifestival... Gosh, after a lot of anticipation over the weekend. I went home sawi and broke yesterday. :((( Chos! Nahinayang ako sa byahe, don't think I'll be able to go back on a weekend to attend the festival.

Okay, so the Matcha festival runs for the whole month of September. Keri. The usual articles I read mentioned that participating restaurants have prepared their own matcha-infused dish to serve for the festival and that there are matcha goodies sold. I don't know if it's me who overlooked that detail or hindi talaga siya masyado na mention na although everyday 'yung sa resto e every weekend lang ang stores. Anyway, before I left for the States a lot were raving for the then newly-opened restaurant called Ichiba. We just tried that out since sawi-sawian nga ko sa matcha goodies, subukan na lang 'yung gustong subukan months before pa tapos transfer to another restaurant to get dessert na lang 'cause all they had there was a soft-serve matcha. (Family mart memories, beshy oh!

10 minutes...
20 minutes...
30 minutes...

My family were trying to be patient kasi nga gusto ko talaga ng matcha so they waited with me.

40 minutes... "Ate, pa follow-up naman 'yung order please."

Yes, without telling the servers. Huhuhu. SAKIT SA PUSO PLEASE!! Salamat sa tubig. :(( hahahaha! Di ko na sila i-mention kung sino.

1. Kapag excited ka talaga e noh!

:(((( HAHAHAHA.

As in super sama talaga ng loob ko. Tsk

Kaya ayoko na bumalik muna sa casino. Kakaloka!!! Naputol na Vegas - Solaire winning streak Hahahaha!

Anyway, balikan na lang natin 'yung good memories when I did a Staycation in Marriott  Hotel, Newport Area. Although I have no idea when and how, I am looking forward for a Maxim's Hotel Staycation! Sobrang ganda ng pool nilaaaaa. Bali levels!!

Here's another food park in Quezon City, Urban Eats which is just two jeepney rides away from my house. (Dahil kailangan ko pa talaga sabihin 'yan...)

Isn't it surprising how Congressional Avenue has transformed into what it is now? Well, sige, pati Visayas Avenue at Mindanao Avenue. Because of this, we must be happy that we are having more and more restaurant choices here in the North. Kami naman dayuhin niyo, South people. haha!

Anyway, here are some pictures from that super kaduper filling night at Urban Eats.

The interior is well thought of and you can find wall arts everywhere.

As for the areas, they have an airconditioned area, smoking area, garden area. Iba iba. All in one.
Smoked Farmers
Lemon Grass Pork Belly

This one's flavorful and I find the dip very interesting. I can't distinguish what the spices used were but it complemented the pork well.
Ilocos Empanada. <3

Farinas Ilocos Empanada's stall is open 24 hours, while the others are from 3PM - 2AM.
Smore's
Chocolate Mousse
Loaded fried!
Loved this.
This is one of those that I liked the most but I wasn't able to get the name of this dish.

This is from the Mexican food stall and based from experience, my cousin was able to successfully order is just by saying, "'Yung maliit na roll na may laman sa gitna pero hindi burrito." Yup hahaha. Ganyan ako kagaling mag-describe but it worked so....
Urban Hits @ Urban Eats

Thumbs up for the free acoustic night every Saturday!
I don't know what this looks like now since this post is a month delayed but yup, go na here with your forever!
Samgyeopsal minus the smell of smoke from WYK Korean Resto

We were also able to taste their Spicy Pork and I liked that as well. :))
Also one of those that I liked most.

Spicy Salmon Tartar Ebi is an appetizer from Nihon Ryori
Beef Float from Quench
That's what I am talking about oh, albeit blurred, I'm sure the wall art is still obvious.
Hainanese Chicken, Scallops Florentine, Chicken Lettuce Cup of Valentina's

My favorite among the three is the Scallops Florentine.
Bacon Wrapped Tuna from Nihon Ryori
We were also served longganiza pizza with this Ilocos Empanada. Huhu. Love this to the last bite! I frequent their branch in Visayas Avenue so this isn't something new to me but one thing's for sure, this never fails to make happy. Hehe!
The dip from Smoked Farmer's was really interesting.
Shrimplet Gladiator of Hungry Knights
This has just the right amount of creaminess which is made more balanced by the diced carrots and corn kernels. The shrimps were also cooked well and doesn't have that rubbery texture.
So cute these drinks.
FISH BOWL ICED TEA

Capital letters para intense. Hehe. Just wish they had a special straw with this huge serving of iced tea.

These are only some of the food offered there so visit and I'm pretty sure you'd find something that you like.

They are open everyday from 3PM to 2AM except for Farinas Ilocos Empanada that is open for 24 hours.

Thank you Ms. Hazel and Aldous for this event! :)

Posted 16 weeks later. Hehehe!

Here's my first time in Artsy Cafe, Maginhawa Street. I have passed by there a lot of times and the crowd/line is noticeable especially during dinner time so I've always wanted to try eating there and I did...

I have found the right word to describe what I feel SOMETIMES. 😂🍴 #artsycafe #maginhawa #food #hangry #gaanokadalasangminsan
A photo posted by Tin Gallemaso (@xtintina) on Aug 1, 2015 at 5:42am PDT
Sorry for all the things I said when I was hangry. :))

Kind of unfair that it took me so long before posting this, soooooo. Alam na. Waley na naman 'to kasi nalimutan ko na 'yung lasa and feeling after kumain. :(

Fish and Fries for appetizer
Pesto

This was my order and even though it wasn't something special for me, it was good enough. It wasn't oily and having the cheesy chicken on top was better than pairing pasta with bread. Laking tulong ko e no. Haha.

People who love to eat are always the best people. IKR!!!!!!! Kailangan pa bang i-memorize 'yan?!
Overall, even if the food we had weren't that remarkable to me or I've probably forgotten about the taste, it's the ambiance of this place that I liked a lot. The multi-colored chairs and tiles were also cute additions to the interior.
I love how it is living up to its name - artsy.

As for the crowd, peak hours are always my problem in ALL restaurants I've been to at Maginhawa. I don't think I even need to mention that here again.

Why so lost, bread?

Another Maginhawa food find.

I have a loooooot of backlogs from there (not only from there pala haha!). Naipon na since July. Aigooo. I still have Artsy Cafe, Rojo's Baked Chicken, and North Wing Manila.

Anyhow,

We went there on a Saturday night and the StrEat was full of diners it was crazy. We formed our line and after around 20 minutes, they posted a sign that they're going to have the ice cream machine rest. We obviously had no choice. Hope they find a solution for this though. Sayang oras.

Since we really wanted to know why was this so hyped, we decided to return and fortunately the line was still short when we arrived at the StrEat.

We found #thelostbread. Bakit ba naman kasi 'yon nawala? Hahaha! 😂 @thelostbread_ #milkshake #maginhawa #strEAT #swissmissed #thecampfire 😋

Ito na nga 'yon.

After all the wait and several inconveniences, we got to order our drinks and true enough, plus sa presentation because even if we didn't get to order The Carnival (the milkshake that has cotton candy on top), Swissmissed and The Campfire were also Instagram-worthy.

Wala sa picture 'yung order ko actually. I got Spiked Cookie for variety's sake and it was a wrong decision - what you usually get for ordering just for the sake of ordering is something you won't like. It was good though nothing really special. I also found the milkshake too sweet but the main reason why I wasn't able to finish my drink is because it has coffee. HAHAHA. My fault talaga for ordering a drink with coffee when I know that I can only drink a few sips of it. K. Fine. Aamin na. The Baileys got me. Hahaha. Charot lang! You can hardly taste the Baileys dahil kaunti lang naman.

For a drink with Baileys, it's still Superduck Teahouse's Baileys Milk Tea.

Will try it there again only when the Carnival with cotton candy is available. Otherwise, it will (always) be matcha bingsu from Magpie Cafe.

As much as possible, refrain from going there during weekends because it is too crowded. Pero if you're after the crowd, edi go. Madali lang naman akong kausap. ;)

Maginhawa Street in Teacher's Village is the street of first to nth rounds if you know what I mean. It feels incomplete if you're only visiting one out of the several restaurants there. Or usual, baka ako lang 'to.

Here's my rounds one and two, Tornado Peri-Peri Chicken and Sancho Churreria Manila. 10 weeks ago na pala! My golly.

One thing when you're the person who's kain ng kain is there's a tendency that the people you're with rely on you in choosing where to eat. They're like, "Ikaw, ikaw naman maraming alam na kakainan." I appreciate that but like what I am always saying, it's tough to be the one deciding because what tastes good for me may not taste good for them. At! :)))

The usual scenario when it's an unplanned Maginhawa food trip is we walk along the street without an idea on where we are going to eat. Tingin lang and then pag may recall 'yung resto, okay na dun.

Will be back, #tornadoperiperichicken 😋 #maginhawa #food.

We were only supposed to cross the street pero sinalubong na kami ng staff nila. Haha! I haven't tried eating here as well kaya sige, dito na lang din.

I don't know what Peri-Peri was. All I know is I have a low tolerance for spicy food so I ordered the original variant. Oh, I learned that peri means pepper.

The chicken was grilled perfectly - tender and not too burnt but I had friends who were disappointed during their visit 'cause they were served dry and bland chicken daw kaya idk. The sauce tasted new to me that I don't even know how to describe it (as if this is something new). I liked it though there's a slight hint of star anise. Never liked star anise in my food buti na lang kaunti lang.

The place was small and it was kind of hot inside. If I return there, I'd sit at the tables outside.

For dessert, it was Sancho Churreria Manila.

We liked the #chocolate dip a lot.😋 #sancho #churros #maginhawa @sanchochurreriamnl

P 88.00

A friend recommended Sancho to me before saying that they're well-known for their churrros con chocolate so when we passed by their restaurant, dun na lang.

For the price and taste, this is definitely a steal. I captioned in my Instagram post that I liked the chocolate dip a lot because it's bittersweet. I like the taste but I hope it has a thicker consistency.

One similarity of these restaurants is their social media presence. They both replied to my Instagram posts and Peri-Peri take pictures of all their diners and post them in their Facebook account.

Last July 12, my friend and I went to this year's Yummy Eats. One of our most anticipated events! Need I say more?! Food galore!

It was held at Metrowalk's Metrotent in Pasig. The tent is fronting Metrocars and obviously, Pasig is in Metro Manila.

Metro Init. Metro Kain. Metro Jubese
Congrats, Yummy Eats for a very very successful event. We had a hard time lining up when we went there because even if there were more than 70 concessionaires and the location was bigger than before, the attendees were so many. As in, divisoria levels nung umaga. But got through it with patience and hunger.
Providing us with this kind of container was a great idea since it has become easier for us to take home the food we couldn't eat anymore.
Someone's always a happy kid when she has food in her hands.
Just this one thing.
I think the organizers should have provided seats at least because even if this is a food tasting event na medyo cocktail party ang feel, it was hard to eat while standing. My friend and I sat on the floor. Hahaha.

We only spent around 2 1/2 hours here which wasn't enough so we took home most of the food we got but some of my favorites are: I lost my Yummy eats passport but...

1. Pesto Spread. I forgot who/where was it from. (green spread on the cracker; first picture)
2. Hot Chocolate from Xocolat
3. Masatami's Salted Caramel
4. The Hang Over Ice Cream of Kool Kids
5. Merry Moo's Avocado Gelato

A food fair like no other.
Expect us again, Yummy Eats 2015!
