After years of not visiting the South (particularly Tagaytay area which now felt like it's only a stone's throw away from our house sans traffic) I've been going there again and these are the links in five months stretch: 1, 2, 3, and 4.

While Paseo de Sta. Rosa has always been our stop-over place because it has the fast foods, we headed to Solenad this time. Well, I've always wanted to go to Nuvali (fish-feeding and water taxi area) but I haven't looked it up properly online. Back then, I didn't know that Nuvali is what you call the whole place and Solenad, which we've passed by a lot of times already, was a part of it too. And in Solenad 1 is where the fish-feeding and water taxis are located.

And the oh so very very very hot summer noon...

Taken from the lake area.
Approaching the fish feeding area.
Man-made lake.
Fish feeding isn't my thing since we have a small fish pond in the comfort of our home. I don't see the need to pay for fish feeds when I can feed fishes at home for free. But looking at this, I just couldn't resist so I bought a pack of their food.

This is the situation before feeding.
P 15.00/pack
I've never seen koi this plenty!
And this is what happens when you start throwing feeds.
I pity the fishes, they had to hurt themselves for foods... or maybe it's just me and my sympathy. hahaha
I'd throw them a sack of fish feeds if I can!
Some are literally out of the water when fed.
These fishes are really a site to see but I just couldn't help it but to feel sad for them.
It mirrors life's reality na may ibang tao dyan na ang sitwasyon ay halos makipag-patayan na maka-kain lang... it hurts a bit.

Meanwhile, in Caleruega, kois are living the life...they're well fed and are relaxed in their pond. But I can't speak for the fishes. hahaha. Baka nage-enjoy naman pala sila sa ganyan.
After feeding the fishes, we headed back to Solenad 2.
Free parking nga pala.
Water Taxi which will take you around the man-made lake.
We've only seen a part of Nuvali and I still want to come back to ride the water taxi and walk around more perhaps.

And off to land of far far away where sweet memories are shared.

This is situated in Lilac St. at Concepcion Dos, Marikina.
We're the weirdos who would travel all the way there just to eat. Lol.
But this one was really tiring 'cause I don't know where we were heading and it felt like we had spent forever before reaching the place. (I suck at remembering names of places but I then recalled that Concepcion Dos was where we helped in giving relief goods after Ondoy's onslaught.)

Was I not from QC and without the haggardness of the travel, this place will surely be a place of good memories. The interiors are good and it's relaxing. But next time, I'd vouch for a closer resto. The travel can be a reason why you won't enjoy your food.

Or maybe I expected too much...
Or maybe I ordered a wrong dish...

My order didn't just give justice to the long travel. Maybe if you live closer Lilac, this would be more worth it.
My order was this Pesto Pasta and look how oily it is. (if visible)
I mean you can still cook hotdogs with that amount of oil. I had to incline my plate to separate the oil from the pasta.

I need another pesto fix. -_-

Here are some of the pictures I got from an almost 2 hours walk around a fish port.

Despite always passing by a wet market because the jeepney terminals are most of the times located near one, it's pretty rare or should I say super kaduper rare that I am able to enter and buy there.

This is the first time that I've gone to a fish port and thus, this is blog-worthy. ehehe

*I have anticipated the smell and the dirt/mud whatevers that I'd encounter taking into consideration how clumsy I am in every way.

UPDATE: NAVOTAS FISH PORT COMPLEX 2023

If they catch tons daily for human consumption, gaano karami kayang isda at mga hayop ang nasa dagat?
Sobrang amazing.
I just wish that they are still able to multiply and replenish kahit araw-araw hinuhuli.

And last but not the least, hindi naman ako marunong mamili ng isda. At sa totoo niyan, 5 isda nga lang ata 'yung kaya kong ma-classify; bangus, tilapia, galunggong, dalagang bukid at hito. Joke. Syempre marami pa 'kong alam bukod dyan. Sinasabi ko lang na marami pa kong klase ng isdang hindi kilala.

I didn't regret having visited one despite what I wrote above, I'd love to explore around a fish port given another chance but only with longer shorts and a tee na walang punit sa balikat. Medyo na wrong outfit ako dun eh.

FYI: Since it's a fish port, you'd have to buy in bulk as in banye-banyera. And for that day, since the supply were few mas mataas 'yung presyo nung mga isda... ang kadalasan na presyuhan daw kasi sa GG e P 50.00/kilo but we bought ours for P 80.00/kilo at may tawad na 'yan dahil P 100.00/kilo - P 110.00/kilo daw talaga ang bentahan nila. But I went to Save More that afternoon and saw that the price of GG was P 179.00/kilo. Doble ang presyo at mas malalaki pa nga 'yung nabili namin sa fish port.
This is moi with some fishing vessels at the background.

All in all, this fish port visit was another adventure for me despite it being a normal day to day activity for some.

And their, oh so Yummy Rice!

Singaporean foods?

We've passed by Yummy Roast for a lot of times already (near Eastwood's Cybermall) but haven't had a chance to eat there. Lol, okay. 'Cause I haven't heard of it before and there were only few people eating there whenever I pass by, I had always been skeptical.

Sorry YR for misjudging you.
This wasn't my meal...
I chose this tofu meal.

So I don't know what the sauce is but it compliments the tofu and their rice very well, there's also a vinegar in the condiments area which I paired with this too.

The real star for YR's meal, for me, is their Yummy Rice. Of course, I won't know how to describe its taste, but I can say that it would definitely make you come back for more.

The cravings...

Enjoyed this choco banana bread for the second time around.
Is this considered a gelato addiction?
Not to mention that the flavors I got are love.

Green Tea and Cream Cheese!
I don't know if there was a slight cream cheese taste in that white colored gelato. Nevertheless, green tea was lurve! hehehe
