The walk along the Fairy Stream is the second part of a half-day tour of some of the tourist attractions in Mui Ne, Vietnam.

White and Red Sand Dunes experience: here.

The trek to the Fairy Stream is free and you don't really need a guide since you just have to follow the flow of the stream.

Despite knowing what it looks like since we saw pictures while researching, none has prepared me for the beauty that is the whole walk along the fairy stream.

While some people would say that, "Bakit sa Vietnam pa kung ganyan lang din naman pupuntahan mo? Parang Pilipinas lang." For me, Vietnam was worth every Vietnamese Dong I spent lalong lalo na sa Mui Ne. Grabe. <3

We walked barefood against the current of the stream. Ito 'yung isa sa mga lugar na masasabi mong "It's the journey not the destination." sa dulo kasi nito e merong falls pero 'yung surroundings talaga nung stream 'yung breathtaking.

Most part of the walk is covered with trees so it's not that hot even if it was almost 12 noon that time. Keep in mind that the water is not dirty. It's cool and the reason of its color is the color of the sand that's in the area.

Good thing I was wearing shorts because even if the water of the stream was only until my ankle, the way I walk might have been unique that the water still managed to reach the lower part of my long t-shirt. haha. Or maliit lang kasi talaga ko...

However, if you'll ask me about snakes that might be around this place, hindi ko naisip kaagad pero definitely meron 'yan sa paligid. Mas nakakagulat kung walang ahas sa ganitong lugar, ang mahalaga lang wag mo silang ma-encounter. haha!

This part of the stream has the best view. Although climbing the rock formation is kind of interesting, the sand is soft and crumbly so I don't think it's recommended.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

Writing about this now makes me want to go back to Vietnam and... eat. Hahahha! I also fell inlove with Vietnamese cuisine by the way.

It felt so magical walking along the stream with these mountains (of clay and limestones?) beside me. I know this kind of place isn't for everyone and it isn't the usual destination of Filipinos going on an out-of-the-country trip but believe me, give Vietnam a chance. :)

For me it's Death Valley, Zion National Park and Valley of Fire in one.

Just follow the red clay and avoid rocks for a pleasant walk. The red clay is soft to walk at so that's in itself is very enjoyable already.

Maybe I didn't find the falls remarkable when I was putting watermarks in my pictures so I don't have it here.

I am not sure if the water level remains the same all through out the year.

The walk back to the jump off point was easier since you're not anymore walking against the river current.

At the end of the walk, there are vendors of snacks and refreshments in case you got hungry.

The end of a half-day tour in Mui Ne. You can avail tours for sunrise or sunset, it's just that our bus ride to Vietnam is scheduled in the afternoon so we had to sacrifice sleep and avail the sunrise tour.

I was only reminded that I haven't posted about the rest of my Ho Chi Minh trip when I saw the pre-nuptial photos of Vhong Navarro. Some of which were taken at Mui Ne, Vietnam.

We got so paranoid with the scammers we encountered while on a DIY tour in Cambodia that for Vietnam, we decided to just join group tours in order to minimize the chance of getting scammed again 'cause we were running short on funds that time.

This Cu Chi Tour is a part of Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta Day Tour. I've compiled a list of Cu Chi Tours you can book from Klook below.

After several travels, I'd like to think that I really got better at blogging and at taking photos. Choosing pictures to post wasn't difficult for the travels I did after this.

The tunnels were developed during their war of Independence during the French occupation but later developed and made more extensive during the Vietnam War.  These tunnels were important in resisting American forces. As you can see above, the attacks during the war were mostly bombs. What the Viet Cong troops did was they went underground through these tunnels - so even in heavily bombed areas, they have what you can consider an underground village.

It may now be considered as a part of the Vietnam War Memorial Parks and one can't fully grasp how difficult the life here was but watching the video before starting the tour was still important just so the tourists will be more informed about the things they're going to see for the rest of the tour.

This is one of the famous tourist photo area in Cu Chi but I didn't try going down there but looking back, I should've done it back then... baka mas hindi na ko kasya ngayon. HAHAHA!

Some examples of the booby trap they used back then.

We were given a short break at this souvenir shop while some decided to do target shooting.

Puro selfie, 'te gurl?

They showed us these sandals that were used back then. The foot trails were reversed in order to confuse the American soldiers.

We were told that we can try entering the tunnels to see and feel how it's like to be there. I entered but also exited at the first exit I saw. It was cramped and definitely not for claustrophobic people.

Our snack was KamoTea :)))

Found this review I posted in Google Maps:

"Very interesting and historical place. We had a good time learning about the warfare of the Vietnamese people back then - can't help but be amazed by their creative minds and by their strength to fight but also felt sad for all the things they had to endure. This place is a must visit when you're in Ho Chi Minh because it's really eye-opening. I was even able to crawl inside one of their tunnels but immediately crawled out at the first exit I saw. Imagine having to spend most of their days at those kind of places when I, personally, had a hard time breathing even if I only stayed for a minute. A lot of travel agencies offer day tours to this place at a very reasonable price. Make sure to bring water with you, wear comfortable clothes and shoes because you'll be walking a lot."

Flashback to 2014 to my first ever out-of-the-country trip, I said and I quote, "Thank You po. More more more more. Yan! Yan!!!! Napagbigyan ng isang beses, nawili naman ako. hahaha. Pero please po Kayo na bahala kung may second, third, fourth... nth time ito. :D :D :D" Five years down the road, I am still travelling.

Grateful and appreciative more than ever for all of these.

First time in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia link: here.

From KL Sentral, we rode a train that took us to Batu Caves. The cave was only around 20 minutes walk away from the station so you definitely won't get lost in the area.

No entrance fee is being collected in the main cave area but the stairs are steep and may not be for everyone. Make sure to bring a bottle of water for your refreshment in case the stairs make you feel exhausted 'cause it gets more expensive on top.

I've also seen photos of the stairs these days and I believe it already underwent a colorful make-over.

Make sure to wear proper clothing when in this 100 year old temple/cave complex. Sleeveless and shorts are not allowed.

The 42.7 m-high golden statue by the entrance is Lord Murugan, a Hindi god of war.

Then we went to Central Market (since 1888)- one of the most famous tourist attraction when in KL as it is classified as Heritage Site.

The main building is an air-conditioned area so it's very comfortable to walk around when shopping.

Near Central Market is Petaling Street - Malaysia's Chinatown.

Very similar to our divisoria. This flea market in Malaysia is also a must-visit especially if getting souvenirs to bring home. I know the experience is very much alike our very own divi but still it's entertaining to be here for a few minutes even if not going on shopping. Also, a lot of the budget hostels are in this area not to mention the vast choices when it comes to streetfood in Malaysia.

As it was nearing sundown, we made our way to Suria KLCC the mall where the Petronas Twin Towers are located.

We went straight to the water fountain area. In the Philippines, we have Okada Fountain Show if you want to experience watching a fountain show as well.

We went inside the mall and ate dinner before heading out for a "photoshoot" with the Twin Towers.

No good pictures with the Petronas Tower eversince but still. <3 It's more stunning at night so make sure to go in the afternoon so you can take photos during daytime and night. Better to have lots of pictures when travelling then just delete the rejects. haha!

You've come a long way since you've decided to sign up for this blog in 2012, xtintina!! hahaha! Layas ka ngang talaga. :)))

Tips and guides for travelers in Cambodia and Vietnam.

Being scammed in a foreign country is the perfect way to ruin a vacation. lolz. I think I need to look up for "scams" in each country I am going to visit in the future to prevent myself from experiencing another heartbreak.

I am not supposed to post my recent out of the country trip yet 'cause I have a lot of backlogs but I consider this urgent.

I don't know if other nationalities felt ripped off too. The spending was too much for us yet we felt that we had no choice. I don't know. Sort of like we, unknowingly, fell as victims of a syndicated scam (in Cambodia). What do you think?

1. Choose your hostel/hotel wisely.

Make sure that they're going to pick you up at the airport if it's included in what you paid for. I replied our schedule but for some reason, our hotel didn't pick us up. I had to buy a sim card to call them (4 USD) and then had to spend (10 USD) for a taxi ride. Una pa lang, Cambodia ay Scambodia na. Huhu. Should've been more careful.

This is a lengthy post kinda filled with rants and pictures:)

We opted for an afternoon bus ride from Ho Chi Minh to Mui Ne because we didn't want to wake up early. Since Mui Ne is more than four hours away from Ho Chi Minh by bus, it was already night time when we arrived at our accommodation. Good thing, the bed and breakfast owner was so kind that even with very short notice, he was able to book us a half-day tour of the sand dunes and fairy stream in Mui Ne. Yep, we didn't even stay for 24 hours in Mui Ne but it was very worth the trip (at least for us).

"Hindi naman ako sinabihan na kasing dami pala ng mga buhangin dito sa sand dunes 'yung pasensiya na dala ko kapag pupuntang Cambodia (!!!) at Vietnam."

We woke up early because this was a sunrise tour. The jeep picked us up at around 5:30 AM and we joined other group of tourists for this trip.

While you can go far if you pay for an ATV, we decided to just walk around the area near the gate because we didn't want to spend for the ride. Sand dunes ay sand dunes. :))

This third time sand dunes experience is very much different with how the sand dunes in Death Valley, California made me experience. lolz.

As the sun slowly rose from the horizon, the sand dunes looked more and more beautiful.

This part, however, has a lot of plants and ATC tracks so if it's your first time and you want to see the "wave of the sand", might as well pay for your ride because the view is definitely much more beautiful the farther you go from the gate.

Our driver set a time when we should be back to gate so we can proceed to the second place in our itinerary.

Above is the vehicle we use to tour around Mui Ne, I sat at the back seat. <3 I think that seat is the next best to the passenger's seat.

There are a lot of tourists in the area.

Red Dunes

Walking in the red dunes is a lot more difficult that walking in the white dunes because it's "uphill" plus the heat of the sun also drains energy. I also took of my sandals because it makes it easier for my feet to sink in the sand.

Albeit much smaller than the red dunes and more crowded, there are a lot of vendors and children offering their "sled" for rent. Beshy, di na nga ko makalakad ng maayos paakyat e pags-slidin mo pa ko pababa para umakyat ulet?

It's overlooking the ocean which makes it really interesting.

Paoay Sand Dunes, Ilocos link: here.

Sand dunes are interesting especially if you haven't been into one. I loved how we saw the sun rise there but the next location in our morning tour, is by far, the best place I've gone to while in that part of Vietnam - The Fairy Stream.
