Ask people who are familiar with the famous restaurants and/or coffee shops in Bacolod, I am sure that Calea Pastries and Coffee is one that will always be said. I am saying this because whenever someone I know flies to Bacolod, it's not a surprise that he/she is going to post a picture similar to this. hehe. Ayan, nakikiuso lang naman ako. :)))
Here's a closer look of their cakes.
I would love to try everything out but... :) Maybe when I return.
Lakas naman maka-DSLR ng cellphone ko oh! May blurred background effect pa siyang alam. hahaha!

Calea's Blueberry Cheesecake
P 90.00/slice

It's my first time eating a cheesecake that has a nutty crust and I loved it. The slice is big for a P 90.00 cheesecake or it's probably because food in general is more affordable in Bacolod.

I finally understand why Calea's a must-try when going there.
I don't know where exactly is this located in Bacolod but you may ride a cab going here.  I think all taxi drivers would know where this is.

I've always wanted to try eating here at Cafe Shibuya eversince I first saw it back during the time when I'd go running to a Family Mart branch for their now-phased-out matcha softserved ice cream.

This strawberry matcha toast picture always looked as if it's telling me,
"Bakit hindi mo pa ko kinakain?!"
Relax with a matcha green tea latte. As in. Hahaha!
I have been really craving for matcha that even if I was already meaning to order a matcha-flavored toast, I still ordered this iced matcha green tea latte which, unfortunately, was too creamy for my liking.

I don't know what's with toasts like this but I've been eating them a lot lately. Uso?

Baby Strawberry Matcha Toast
P 195.00

Okay naman 'to pero I don't know, may kulang. :( Hindi ko maipaliwanag pero may kulang eh. But I liked the matcha ice cream.

Alab. Minsan watawat Madalas itong toast. #damingsinabi #heavenly #mango #caramel #toast #dessert #cafeshibuya #ilove

My friend and I chose this mango caramel for our second visit and I found this a lot better compared to the strawberry matcha toast I previously had.

Mango Caramel
Regular
P 235.00

It's obvious that I liked this a lot more than their matcha strawberry toast so if I'll ever find myself returning there which is very likely since they have a lot of food options to choose from, I'll just order a scoop of their matcha ice cream with other toast variants.

Do you know a good cafe here in Quezon City or anywhere near Q.C that serves delicious and potent matcha latte or matcha anything?

Tell me plssssssssssssss. Maraming salamat! :)))

Maginhawa street here in Quezon City is  filled with restaurants of different concepts, most of them affordable if not cheap.

I found myself frequenting the area last December which explains why until now, I am still posting backlogs.
Cakes here at the Baker's Table are inspired by the candies of our childhood.
It was actually my brother's idea to try eating here because of his favorite haw haw candy. He was so curious as to how the candy was made into a cake.
I found the hawhaw cake okay but I liked this more.

Butterball Caramel Cake

Butterball and Hawhaw almost tasted the same just that, I think the cream and butterball taste complemented each other better. Mas bagay sila, ganyan.
Milo Mousse which was too rich for my liking.
We went there before Christmas that is why we were given a free slice of their Puto Bumbong cake to try. HAHAHAHA. Alam mo 'yung more than one month na pala 'to delayed.
GRABE TALAGA. HAHAHAHA.

SOBRANG WALA NA KO MASABI, GUYTH. I am sorry that this is of no help. :)))

Pero 'yun nga.

Cake? Try Baker's Table.

I don't know if it's Banapple's marketing strategy, or if most of my friends are just coincidentally craving for Banapple these days, or it's my Instagram posts kasi nakikita nila kaya gusto din nila kumain dun.

Anyhow, Banapple Pies and Cheesecakes has seven pasta dishes in their menu all of which I have tasted in the past weeks so here's my top five.

I got the descriptions from Banapple's page. :) I think for a person with "normal" appetite, an order of any of these dishes will be enough for two.

Penne Bolognese
P 200.00

An aromatic meat sauce, blended with Italian herbs and spices, drizzled with luscious olive oil

Lasagna Roll-Ups
P 210.00

Herbed cream and Parmesan cheeses fill al dente lasagna wide strips, are rolled up, and smothered with classic tomato meat

I was torn between this lasagna and penne for my first choice because I love how different Banapple's lasagna from the others I've tasted. Nasa labas kasi 'yung meat and the fillings are herbed cream and parmesan cheese kaso for a serving kase, meron lang dalawa so mukhang mas marami 'yung Penne. Pero for the taste siguro, pwede rin 'to mag first. Bet 'yung filling talaga.

White Chocolate Truffle Blueberry Cheesecake
P 135.00/slice

This is now my favorite cake in Banapple.

The simple blueberry cheesecake used to be my first and banoffee pie my second pero mas favorite ko na nga 'yung isa.

Pasta Verde
P 200.00

A rich blend of chopped basil, olive oil, and pecans, served with al dente penne pasta.

Okay naman din 'to kaso naparami 'yung oil. Sana balanced lang 'yung leaves (leaves ba talaga. hahahaha) saka 'yung oil para well-distributed 'yung pesto sauce hindi 'yung ibang penne, walang lasa.
Baked Creamy Cheesy Penne
P 215.00

A well-loved dish of luscious white cheese sauce and meaty tomato sauce, with al dente penne pasta and sauteed Hungarian sausage.

This is my fourth because it was too creamy for me. Okay naman siya at first especially with the mozzarella cheese topping pero pag nagtagal na, umay na.

Trio of Sausages Fettucine
P 215.00

Protein-packed pasta of crumbled chorizo, garlic longganisa, and Hungarian sausage, tossed in garlic, Parmesan cheese, and a very light cream sauce

SAYA FACTOR:
9/10

Bakit may -1? There are times kasi medyo mabagal 'yung service nila. :)

I have always had problems dining alone whenever I'm in public. In fact, I am proud (or should I be ashamed?) that in my more than twenty years of existence in this world, the ratio of me eating alone and eating with someone is probably 1:100. And... of those 1's out of 100's, there's still a ratio of 1:50 for rice meals (1) and burger, pizza, pasta etc. (50). This is the reason why I have high regards someone who can manage and who isn't uncomfortable to eat alone in public.

But there will come a time when you just want to be alone for a couple of hours before going back to reality and I found my "safe space" here in Afters Espresso along Tomas Morato. I know this is not a big accomplishment but for the first time (I really think that this is the first time), I ate alone not because I have to but because I chose to. Just like what the adage says, "the only person you have to make friends with is yourself and you'll never be alone." I should get it over with and be more at ease with just me. So very much easier said that done so enoughhh. This isn't about me but about Afters. :))

For my matcha latte, it looked good but lacked the taste. It was so mild and diluted that the only thing that made this matcha was its green color. Or maybe not that bad but for those who are like me who would rather drink bitter matcha rather than those creamy/milky ones, this wouldn't be for you either.

For my chocolate cheesecake, I like it although I'm not really certain if there are qualities in this cheesecake that would stand out from the rest. I am interested to try their other cakes and gelatos though, heard they're mostly good stuff.

As for the ambiance, I don't know if I was just in the mood for some peace and quiet but it is a cozy place. I was lucky there were only six customers and all of us were by ourselves. For that time and that day, it was a great place to kill time and for me-times.

Today is Splurge Wednesday!

Although I've been anticipating this drink, it wasn't planned that I'd drink this today. Not in the budget so it's definitely out of budget. But okay, for the experience.

The newest pair in Starbucks beverages: Dark Mocha with White Chocolate Pudding Frappuccino and Green Tea with Chocolate Pudding Frappuccino.

It's not a surprise (especially if you've been to this blog before) that I am a sucker for matcha. Like what I always tell my friends, "Tara, matcha... kase matcha-rap, matcha-rap, cha, cha, cha, cha" (In the tune of Ryzza's Chacha song.)

I may be a chocolate-lover but Starbucks is synonymous to Green Tea Frap and when I saw SB's post before regarding the launch of these two drinks (which was yesterday
) I was excited.

Venti, P 200.00

The white chocolate pudding gave my favorite drink a twist with its creamy and soft texture. It has enhanced the taste of the green tea frap and it is worth giving a try especially for those who like chewing something while drinking. (WTF. HAHAHAHA. Di ko mapaliwanag, as usual.)

Outrageous Cheesecake
P 130/slice

I loved this cheesecake!
And it looks so fun, doesn't it?  It reminds me of the Christmas season and oh, if you get to see a whole cake, you'd also be reminded of our native delicacy called sapin-sapin.

The cheesecake is rich and creamy with some fruit bits and the colorful top layers are fruit compotes of mangoes, blueberries and strawberries.

Hadn't Amici by Cara Mia changed my views regarding ordering colorful cakes with berry flavors, I wouldn't even think of ordering this one even if I love cheesecake. But so far, since Amici, I am not yet disappointed in any.... hahaha! Lol. 2 pa lang silang natikman ko.

On another note, my waistline is getting outrageously thicker and thicker and thicker. hahaha! Need I say more?
