It was raining quite hard the day before our scheduled climb to Mt. Daraitan in Tanay, Rizal. Despite knowing that it might rain on the day itself, we still went to Tanay, Rizal.

The tricycle to Mt. Daraitan's jump-off point is an adventure in itself because of the road condition. They might have better roads by now since this has been in my backlogs for a while and by a while, I mean more than six months. hahaha.

It's a standardized fee by now and I can't blame anyone but myself for a blurred picture of the pricelist. Good job, self.

Since it was already drizzling, we've decided to leave some of our stuff at the jumpoff. I left almost everything I brought though. I only took my bottled water, camera, wallet, food with me.

We wore poncho at the beginning only to realize that wearing raincoats on climb feels like climbing wearing a gown. It was uncomfortable so removed it immediately.

Aside from the peak of Mt. Daraitan, one attraction in this area is the Tinipak river but the amount of rain that day made it inaccessible.

The rain made the trail muddy and slippery.

When we climbed this, I've already gone to Tarak Ridge (that I haven't posted yet), but ascending the steep trail of Tarak was still hard. Imagine if I were to climb another mountain today when I haven't climbed in more than 8 months... Haha. Sounds like a death wish. I'm so unfit. Chos.

Thanks to Kuya that my belongings went from 100% to 25% to 0 since he volunteered to carry my backpack for me. Pabebe climber is pabebe. :)))

We soon reached this part of the trail where the grotto is. Those clouds are enough to fuel my then depleting energy.

Our doggy guide whom I wasn't able to bid farewell to. Nawala na lang siya bigla pagbaba namin.

And then we reached the summit.

It was a weekday so there were only two other climbers when we reached this part.

I "feared" Daraitan 'cause people told me that the rocks at the summit is a pain to climb but it wasn't at all. In fact, the view looking at the path of the river was really beautiful.

Look at my shoes and my leggings that loved the mud of the trail. lol

I haven't climbed for eight months. I think I want to climb again.

Pililla windmills are also visible at the summit.

We descent and found this rock with a view of a low lying sea of clouds.

It was quite a challenging and slippery trail but I went home unscathed all thanks to our guide who carried my things for me and helped me during the hard part of the trails.

I forgot the name of this falls but this was on the way to the descent.

After cleaning our shoes at the falls, we were presented with this reality again. hahaha. Useless cleaning of shoes when the rest of the trail is still mud. :))

The peak of Mt. Daraitan.

I am of no help if you're going to ask me the name of this place.

Pero ito 'yung pinakauna/pinakadulo na pababa, worn out resort, meron pa ba dun area. Hahahaha.

We were out in Subic and unfortunately, the resort (where we were expecting to bathe at) doesn't allow guests to swim at the beach.... beachfront pero bawal mag beach kasi raw maraming yachts/boats.

We drove out of SBMA, ito 'yung daan pag pumupunta kaming Zambales. There are a lot of resorts in that area, the problem is the first we resort we went out, there were a lot of people so we had to find another. And we found this.

Walang ibang tao.
Walang kahit ano.

Looking at it, it's kind of beautiful but as usual, you can't really expect a clean beach at that side of Olongapo anymore.

Not the cleanest but a whole lot better than the condition of the beach we went at in Nasugbu, Batangas.

My two new friends with bottle of Coca-cola as their floaters.

We put all the bones in one plastic bag to take home to our dogs but this "local" ran away with our plastic and ate it on the table next to ours.

All in all, it was okay since I didn't have my hopes high anyway. hahaha. lol. It's a nice place if you're with friends who are willing to settle for bare necessities and a night out at a tent since not a lot of people are in the area. May privacy.

Esther's Beach Resort, Nasugbu, Batangas

We wanted to go to a beach overnight trip but we're on a very limited budget. Hence, Nasugbu, Batangas.

It was still summertime then that all resorts we tried to contact in other towns of Batangas were fully booked so we settled with Esther. "Basta may dagat at pool," we said.

Going there, we rode a bus to Nasugbu in DLTB Terminal in Taft, then tricycle to Esther. It was kind of far since the bus passes through Cavitex and would stop to pick passengers up but the travel time was bearable, took us 2-3 hours.

Esther doesn't have restaurants so it's a good thing that we ate at the fastfood before going there. We also didn't have junkfood nor drinks with us, good thing there was a sari-sari store across the street. Where we bought bottled waters, chips and... beer. haha. It was also where we had breakfast the next day.

Pool was not that big but we didn't have other guests swimming with us that time so it was like a private pool.

Esther beach resort was clean and somehow well maintained. Only had they have some dogs roaming around and some are kind of aggressive so careful to those who are afraid of dogs.

Definitely not bad for the price we paid, though I already forgot how much was it.

Sarap naman ng sizzling bangus sa dagat. Yummm. Charot

I've been to a lot of beautiful and clean beaches so eventhough it was Nasugbu beach that I had my first beach trip more than a decade ago, it didn't make the cut this time. We only swam there for like 20 minutes and left for the pool because it was dirty, it felt too dirty.

Dun mo pwedeng kantahin 'yung kanta ni Manny Villar na, "Nakaligo ka na ba sa dagat ng basura?"

If you bathe here with a white tshirt, don't expect a white tshirt when you leave the beach. Yes. That dirty.

I've blogged about the beaches in Cavite and Zambales, you may refer to those too.

There was only one restaurant in the area because the fastfoods are still a tricycle away.

"Kainan sa Dalampasigan"

In all fairness, the food were good and the interior of the restaurants were as well. It's a mix of a garden and rustic setting.

When we got back to the resort, we were hoping to drink beer by the shore. Inpired by "I'm drunk, I love you" but they had to lock the gate so we had no choice but to stay inside the resort.

Since Nasugbu's beach didn't satisfy our need for Vitamin Sea, we decided to take the boat ride to the nearest cove - the Kawayan Cove a.k.a the fallback/ the redeeming beach of all who were disappointed by Nasugbu. Lol.

We were told that there are corals and snorkeling site in this cove but didn't find one. Maybe in the farther areas 'cause all I saw were plastics. :(

May leeg ako.

Compared to Nasugbu's coastline, it was definitely a lot more beautiful and cleaner though there were still garbages around.

Entrance is free but that doesn't mean that there's no need for maintenance.

So there, head for Kawayan Cove or better yet, the locals were talking about Papaya Cove. Just go there for a more beautiful beach experience, para hindi ka naman maligo sa dagat ng basura.

Hope that they salvage the place before it gets totally destroyed by trash.
