I can't remember how many times I've gone to Baguio at this point but I'm sure that I've always gone there annually (bi-annual even) the past five years. Paulit-ulit but I still look forward for it every.single.time.

Yup, kahit like my 2015 trip, day tour na naman for 2019.

All of my Baguio posts link: here.
Baguio trip 2014 itinerary link: here.
Baguio trip 2017 itinerary link: here.

Just remembered that there are a lot of places from my previous visits that I haven't posted here yet. Nonetheless, below are photos from Baguio 2019.

It was, again, a spontaneous decision since we just went here straight from Manaoag Church in Pangasinan. We finished mass at 10 AM and we didn't want to go back home yet so did a Baguio sidetrip.

Year after year, I'd see more buildings and a more congested Baguio which doesn't feel sustainable at all. I hope that the green spaces will remain there for the many years to come or better yet, I hope to see more green spaces in the years to come. I don't even remember seeing a lot of pine trees now. Di na rin kami nagpunta ng SM 'cause looking at the Sky Ranch there was kind of heartbreaking. I know that it's supposed to boost Tourism but I can't help but be sad for the trees that needed to be cut to make way for it, lam mo 'yon. :(

Tourist arrivals are partly the reason why there has been a boom with establishments in the area but I can't give up going to Baguio just 'cause I don't agree with the way they've been expanding. Ewan. It's my happy place - it has always been.

We went there last August expecting bottles of ube jam from Good Shepherd only to be greeted by this announcement that they couldn't source raw materials. Okay. Wala naman kaming magagawa but then the other day, their post announcing that now have white ube instead of the violet one went viral on Facebook. And I, naturally, want to go back there just 'cause GUSTO KO KUMAIN NG WHITE UBE. Also, I wasn't thinking of posting this here yet but then I saw another viral post in Facebook where a restaurant in Baguio is now serving STRAWBERRY CHAMPORADO.

SO ANO NA NGA, BAGUIO?!

Miss mo na ako agad?! Hahaha

Uy, infairness sa Anello Bag ko... hindi siya nakakasawang gamitin at hindi mabilis masira. :))

Baguio and low lying clouds on a rainy day.
Gusto ko na lang isipin na it's because of the weather and mountain combo that Baguio is still one of my favorite places in the Philippines. I'm still hoping that I'd get to visit Sagada in the future but Baguio is more than enough, it has always been enough... buti pa siya enough. HAHAHA.

Grateful.

Grateful for the small things, big things, and everything in between. <3

The rooftop of this mall (adjacent to the church) is my favorite viewing area. Mines View also has a great view but it can get a little crowded.

By the way, I've done Mt. Ulap Reverse Traverse a few years ago and I'm linking it here below.

Mt. Ulap Experience

Naalala ko lang bigla kasi on this area, viewable 'yung malaking electric fan sa taas ng bundok or 'yung mickey mouse ears na malaki sa bundok. :)))

Baguio has become a lot more traffic these days especially when it's a long weekend. I remember we were there during the ASEAN week and they had to issue a class cancellation because the tourist arrival was too much.

It's difficult to find parking spaces and so what we did was we parked our car in a paid parking area (NA SOBRANG MAHAL lol) and took cabs when going to the different points of interests. I am not sure if that move was the wisest and the cheapest but we thought that would be the best option for us back then. Hahahahaa. Dito lang naman din congested sa may Session Road area pero 'yung iba like Good Shepherd, Botanical Gardens, Mines View Park e parang meron naman available parking space that time.

Baguio is walk-able city.

If not for the rain then we would've just walked around this area but the weather didn't cooperate with us anymore that afternoon and there were not a lot of covered spaces in Burnham Park.

If you're looking for the place where the night market is set-up, that would be the road beside this park opposite the public market.

Where do broken hearts go pa rin ba? :)))

Ayan, talaga naman na wala kaming pinuntahan na bagong lugar para sa trip na 'to... iba lang talaga 'yung saya na binibigay ng hangin sa Baguio sa puso ko. HAHAHAHA.

View from Baguio Craft Brewery.

I don't always drink liquor but I like trying out craft beers. I've been here last 2017 and hung out in the area. They have different kinds of beer and if you're dining there, you may order a beer sampler.
Strawberry Beer also called Lagud remains as my favorite in this brewery.

This is it for Baguio August 2019... tignan ko kung makabalik ako within this year. lolz. dami budget, 'te gurl. kala ko ba magtitipid ka na. *mixed emotions*

If you're commuting from Baguio to La Trinidad, this will be a good itinerary since the places are jeepney rides away.

From Burnham Park, you may ride a jeepney going to La Trinidad and ask the driver to drop you off at the street/entrance of Bell Church and just walk towards it.

After Bell Church, walk out towards the street and continue walking (right if you're facing the street) and you'll reach The Colors of Stobosa.

Once you're done taking photos in Stobosa, you can ride a jeepney again to the Strawberry Fields.

It's easy to get there from Manila and it's also easy to navigate in Baguio especially when there's not too much people. I've experienced Baguio on a long weekend and the traffic congestion was so bad that I'd rather stay home. Nonetheless, Baguio remains to be my happy place.

I have photos from Baguio taken from the first time I went here some 20 years ago so I was glad to be able to visit here on my own.... two years ago. HAHAHA! Bakit ang bilis?! I have a lot of backlogs as in super but I'm trying to upload them now and I just realized that this Baguio trip happened in 2017 pa!

Not like Baguio City and Strawberry fields, there aren't a lot of people in this Taoist Temple which was kinda surprising 'cause all along, since I had pictures here like I mentioned earlier, I thought that this place is as famous as Mines View Park but yeah, given that most people here are Roman Catholic baka they're not interested. Gusto ko lang din kasi talaga nagpupunta sa temples.

We only stayed in the middle part of the place near the fountain 'cause the gate leading to the staircase was locked. We also didn't know what to do should be enter the church so we didn't.

Reminded me a lot of the Taoist Temple we visited in Cebu though this is a lot smaller.

Going here might be hard for older people though 'cause you'd have stairs to climb to get to the church.

But yeah, if you want to try going to a Chinese Temple then you should definitely stop by this area.

From the Bell Church, we walked towards this Hillside Homes Artwork more commonly known as the Colors of Stobosa.

StoBoSa being the portmanteau of the sitio names where this artwork is located namely STOnehill, BOtiwtiw and SAdjap in Barangay Balili, La Trinidad.

This place is a part of the Urban Redevelopment Tourism Program and is inspired by the artworks in Brazil called Favela Paintings which is also an urban mural project over the slum houses in Rio de Janeiro.

Without the bigger space for walkways and tourist sites, this place is also similar to Gamcheon Cultural Village in Busan, South Korea. Only that, Stobosa has no enough space for tourists to walk in. You can only go as far as the bridge if you're taking photos and the waiting area is only along the highway.

In fact, there's no parking space if ever you're bringing your car in the area 'cause this place is literally along the Halsema highway.

And even if it looks much better in picture and even if it's hard to take pictures in this area, I can still recommend spending a few minutes here especially if you're in the area.

Afterall, it took a lot of planning and hardwork to make this project into fruition. Definitely succeeded into transforming an eyesore into a very "Instagrammable" artwork.

DIRECTIONS:
Ride any Trinidad bound jeep from downtown Baguio (Session Road or Magsaysay Area) Tell the driving you're going here. And even if he forgets, it's impossible to miss this colorful houses along the road.

This is a review of an overnight stay in the one of the famous hotel in Baguio City - The Manor in Camp John Hay.

I have posted about them way back 2014 link: here. but this time, I was able to check in and sleep in the rooms not just someone who went there to take photos in the garden. Grateful for the experience. A testament that things eventually get better. lol. :))

It has been raining non-stop here in Metro Manila and if there's one thing that I always feel like doing during rainy days that is to pack my bags, ride the bus and head to Baguio. I've said this before but there's something in the Cordillera Administrative Region that brings healing to my tired soul. This might sound crazy to some but that's Baguio for me. Yep, even before That Thing Called Tadhana. hehe!

Below are the pictures taken from our room during our stay at The Manor:

The rooms has no air conditioning so it might still get hot especially during summer but during the colder weather? PERFECT! The rooms are big and the beds are comfortable to sleep in.

I prefer the rooms facing the garden and I'd choose the room on the upper floors if possible 'cause there are a lot of people going to the garden and see those checked in the first floor.

This is what Baguio is all about! <3

KAKAMISS!!!!!

I've just recently posted my Tapulao Experience because I wanted to show you the fog. I think I really miss the feeling of being one with the fog. :))))) Iba pa rin eh! Smog lang kasi nandito sa Manila!!

Siguro this has something to do with me being a mountain person. I prefer places where I'm surrounded by trees and embraced by the misty fog.

I'll prefer this over any night at bar. Simpleng inom lang and kwentuhan sabayan mo pa ng natural na lamig ng Baguio. Haaaay! Solve na solve.

***
This hotel in Camp John Hay in Baguio is an attraction on its own. It's Baguio "away from the crowd." No matter how congested the traffic is outside and no matter how many people are there visiting the other tourist spots in the area, it's nice to be in this quiet hotel with less people and still feel the cold air of the Summer Capital of the Philippines. Also, it's best when you're able to book rooms facing the garden.
