GRAND has to be capitalized for this post because there's another hotel named City Garden Hotel in the vicinity. We were a bit confused with that at first but yeah, we double checked which one has the rooftop bar and it's - City Garden GRAND.

We arrived late for check-in but for some reasons, the room was still not ready when we got there so we ended up waiting for another two hours at the lobby.

Above are photos from the room.

The room was huge, comfortable and clean so we had no problems with it and somehow, our negative impression with the hotel because of the long wait was appeased. My favorite thing, from the entire room, is the city view.

There's something about staying in Makati without worrying about the traffic in EDSA when going back home to QC. :))))) Sobrang bihira ko na mapunta doon ngayon kasi sobrang malala rin 'yung traffic. AHAHA.

That afternoon, it rained hard and we couldn't go out so we just swam at the rooftop pool. We were only the ones swimming that time which is a good thing 'cause it's not too big and it can get definitely get crowded on some days. The rain got harder and harder so we decided to sit for a bit in the Firefly Roofdeck Bar while waiting for the rain to stop.

Firefly Roofdeck Bar

This is the Firefly Roofdeck Bar - the reason how we learned about City Garden GRAND Hotel 'cause it was once viral on Facebook because of the view. We thought of going there once for dinner but we decided to do a staycation instead.

Baguio??? More like bagyo. HAHAHA.

I've seen a lot of skylines from many different countries but Metro Manila is still one of my favorites.... kahit ang hirap mahalin ng Pilipinas on some days.... hahaha. Humugot pa eh.

Outdoor pool + Hot Tub

Truly is a beautiful view from the rooftop bar.

We waited for sunset before going back to the hotel. Afterwards, we went out to eat dinner. There were a lot of restaurant choices - this is in Poblacion, Makati afterall.

After dinner, we went back to the rooftop deck to just stay near the pool area and talk. Another thing that would need patience is the elevator during the "peak hours" of the restaurant because it would take a while before you're able to ride. Dalawa lang kasi ata 'yung elevator for the entire hotel and yet it has to service not only the people checked-in but also the people going up to the roof deck.

During this time, there were already a lot of guests at the bar but we didn't mind. Hehe. Maganda pa rin naman at hindi ganon kaingay.

The room rate we paid was breakfast inclusive.

The buffet spread was wide. There were a lot choices and it made our stay more "sulit" especially that staying in this hotel wasn't really that expensive to begin it felt like it still.

Overall, our experience was City Garden GRAND Hotel was great and bang for the buck. I just hope they improve their check-in process 'cause waiting in the lobby when you're supposed to be in the hotel room is kind of irritating... syempre kasama na sa bayad 'yung two hours na nawala sa amin. Hehehe.

I was finally able to eat at Urameshi-ya Yakiniku in Little Tokyo which has an eat-all-you can promo every Monday to Thursday at 5 PM to 1 AM. Keep in mind that there's a limit of 45 minutes per diner/group and the price is around P 550.00 per person. Is it worth it?

I've always wanted to visit Little Tokyo in Makati but the traffic situation in Makati (in the whole of Metro Manila) stops me from travelling South if it's not an important matter. So when we spent a night in Makati Shang, I figured that there's no other place to eat dinner but here.

We arrived there a few minutes after 5 PM so there wasn't any line but three tables inside were already occupied.

Before entering the restaurant, you are to choose from here which food are you getting.

>.<

My eyes were all on wagyu, prawns and scallops. huhu. Looking at it this picture makes we want to eat Wagyu again.

I took picture when the people from the other table left. There's a suction for smoke but it didn't work quite well since we left the restaurant smelling like smoke.. but I didn't mind especially if that meant that I ate char-grilled wagyu cubes <3

I don't suggest getting that flavored wagyu though because the cubes taste better when it's just plain. The prawns are huge and so fresh that for sometime there, I forgot that I went for the wagyu cubes.

We ordered too much so good thing that it wasn't packed that day I think we were able to stay for an hour. We went there early and on a Monday - Mondays are generally a slow day for restaurants so we took advantage of that.  Just make sure to arrive early 'cause I heard that lines start to accumulate by 6 PM.

I don't know about you but I prefer charcoal grills than gas/electric grills if I have the options. I love the distinct taste of chargrilled food.

Definitely not my first and last in Little Tokyo.

I love being in high places. I love overlooking views. But more importantly, I love quiet places.

Vu's Bar in Marco Polo, Ortigas is exactly what I want whenever I want to experience those night outs.

Situated in Ortigas, it's still high enough to escape the noise of the Metro. lol. :))

Price point may be steep but that's expected since it's in a five star hotel but very worth it though for that peace and quiet.

There is indoor seating and there is outdoor. If you want to sit outside, come early 'cause there are only few tables in this area.

This is located at YMCA hotel in front of Sacred Heart Church, Makati but they also have a branch in Maginhawa Street, Quezon City.

To give you a brief history of the restaurant, the word Galli is a combination of the owners' surnames Garcia and Villongco.

Please excuse the pictures. Haha!
Tin was late (again)
Don't be like Tin.
Always anticipate the hellish traffic jams.

So there, I came in late thus they were already eating when I arrived. But these pictures I have here would still work. :))

Their paella is only made if there's an order to ensure the freshness and the taste so be prepared to wait for 45 minutes but you can also order in advanced. But, if you decide to wait then I assure you that this is going to be worth it. Uy, walang hugot. Masarap kasi talaga.
Beef Salpicao

Unfortunately, this wasn't that remarkable for me but they only use beef tenderloins so it's not surprising that this was tender.
Shrimp Gambas

Not only because I am shrimp biased but this one was my favorite of all the viand I had for that night. You know how bad I am at describing food but this one's really really really good that I took the last piece. HAHAHA. Alam mo naman nagkakahiyaan sa last piece diba?  E you could really taste how fresh the shrimps are so huhu obviously, I wasn't able to resist.

Nga pala, they only use sugpo for this one.

I love that they always make sure they're only cooking the finest ingredients yet still manage to make everything reasonably-priced.
Chicken Al Ajillo

Bet with rice! If I were to rank the viands I had that night, this comes in second to the shrimp gambas.

Galli Village Cafe may be a small restaurant in Makati but the pictures and paintings there are big things. Hehe.

All the decorations found are remembrances and souvenirs from the owners' previous travels in several countries. These pictures undoubtedly added a different feel to the restaurant - and even made the place much closer to the heart hehe. Of course, more inspiration for us who have been bitten by the travel bug.
I wasn't able to take pictures of the entire place but there are a lot more decorations, travel magazines even.

Btw, you may reserve the whole area for small celebrations or family gatherings.

Thank you, Ms. Christine for having me again and Aldous for organizing this event. :))

It's rare for me to eat Mediterranean cuisine not because I don't like it but because I have no idea about what to order aside from the usual shawarma and kebab. That's the reason why I am happy I was finally able to try other Mediterranean dishes here in Sultan Mediterranean Grill in Valero Plaza Condominium, San Agustin Street, Makati.

If you're looking for a restaurant serving Mediterranean cuisine... :)
Starter/Appetizer

Falafel balls with Hummus
P 250.00
This is served with a pita bread that's covered with a cheesecloth.

This is something that I haven't tried before but it tastes good and I was actually surprised that this is just an appetizer.
Salad
Salata Horiatiki/ Greek Salad
P 200.00
Vitamin Boost
P 250.00

I liked this salad because of its orange and cranberry dressing. Nothing like an extra vitamin boost especially in this crazy weather we're having this days. Huhu. I wish I could eat this today too!
Moussaka
P 220.00

This is almost like Lasagna only they used eggplant instead of the pasta. I liked the cheese, hehe, I'm just not really a fan of eggplant.
Lamb Shank
P 550.00

They slow-cooked this lamb for three hours. Yup, three hours so no wonder that the meat is very soft and juicy. It is perfect with the buttered rice and gravy. It might seem expensive but a serving is huge that it is good for sharing.

I liked this a lot even though I only had 2 spoonfuls of this because there were too much food to try. Oh, and it was my first time eating lamb and their shank didn't disappoint.
Lobia Rice
Beef Shawarma
Kebab Platter

CHUNKS (all caps para intense!) Chunks talaga as in malalaking chunks of beef, lamp, seafood, and chicken perfect paired with Sultan Grill's garlic sauce that is readily available in each table and their lobia rice.
With the diced veggies it came with.

I liked this a lot too!
My mixed berry yogurt drink.

Anong cuisine natin ngayon? Japanese!!

I had an appointment (uma-appointment!) in Makati and met up with a friend after for super duper late lunch here in Saboten.

This was hours passed lunch time and too early for dinner kaya ganyan.

We were seated in this farthest corner so even if there were no other customers at that time, the waiters (waitresses) couldn't see us whenever we raised our hands to ask for refills. Medyo mababa ang rating nila for me sa service.  I mean, okay naman at first when they took our orders. They were accommodating but during the meal, they were MIA na. Refillable kasi so expected namin na it would be easy to catch their attention.
Just like Ginza Bairin (which I posted about exactly a year ago, link: here.), Saboten also has a 10% discount on total bill for JCB credit cardholders.
This was my order.
Mixed Set P 410.00

1 Deep Fried Shrimp, 1 Loin Cutlet, 1 Crab Cream Croquette

Mixed set again so that I'd be able to try different kinds of Katsu.

I liked my order except for the crab croquette. It was overly creamy for my preference that just a bite of it is nakakasuya. (Ano ba English niyan?) Haaay.  Hindi talaga ko marunong mag-describe ng pagkain ko. hahaha. Kelan kaya ako matututo? :)))

Wish they include fresh fruit slices in their set meals though.
This is me.
Wala lang. Just wanted to show you my face kasi mukha akong maputi sa picture na 'to. HAHAHAHA.

Saboten has got to me be the one I liked the least of all the Katsu restaurants I've tried.

SAYA FACTOR:
7.5/10

An additional .5 because I was so stuffed that I had no appetite to eat any after this meal. Wala ng dinner dinner.
