First Time in Japan: Northern Kyushu Itinerary, Expenses and Travel Tips (From Hakata in Fukuoka)

This place is the 10 million dollar night view of Japan but we went there during day time and to avoid the crowd. Plus, this is far from Fukuoka and we couldn't risk missing the train back.

Fuchi Shrine and Nagasaki Ropeway link: here.
Spectacles Bridge, Nagasaki link: here.

At the end of the ropeway, you'd still have to walk quite a bit to get to the building where the observation deck is.

There was a gallery/exhibit that time and they featured photos taken from all of Nagasaki. From here (first floor), you may take the ramp going around the building or you may ride the elevator. The only fee you're going to pay is for the Nagasaki ropeway since access here is free.

One of the world's top three night views alongside Monaco and Hong Kong.

Buildings here weren't as high as the ones in HK but the entire overlooking area was beautiful. Their skyline was a lot like Busan, South Korea tbh which is understandable because Nagasaki is also a port city. Whilst, HK's is kinda like New York City because of all the high-rise buildings.

It was clear day perfect for travelling.

The observation deck is a 360 degrees rooftop and we were the only ones there the entire time. I prefer the view of the ocean and the mountain range of this part rather than the buildings... viewing it at night would be a different story though.

Unobstructed view of Nagasaki only for us, only for that time. Haha! Feeling nag bayad ng VIP access for this.

It was so breezy up there so make sure to bring jackets/ scarves with you especially if you'll be going there at night.

There would definitely be a lot more people but the best time to go here would be several minutes before sunset/ golden hour so you'd see the sunset (duh) and the night lights soon after.

First Time in Japan: Northern Kyushu Itinerary, Expenses and Travel Tips (From Hakata in Fukuoka)

On the way to one of Japan's best night views!

.
.
.
.

but went there during day time HAHAHA

I don't remember what happened but we rode a tram from the Spectacles Bridge and then we alighted at a station that was still too far from the Nagasaki Ropeway. We still walked quite far despite paying the transportation fee - nag lakad na lang sana kami sa lahat. Haha! There's a bus station outside the lower station of the Nagasaki Ropeway so the best way is to look for the bus that stops at the station instead of walking like what we did especially if you've already paid for a ride. I noticed that we tend to panic a lot more when we were in Japan 'causing us to ride and alight at wrong stations but thank God for unlimited train tickets, no dents on the budget.

Nagasaki Ropeway Schedule

We got there nonetheless. A lot of people go to this area at night because of the beautiful night light/cityscape but we decided to visit it in the afternoon since Nagasaki is too far from Hakata, Fukuoka and we couldn't risk missing the train back. Hahaha. Paranoid much.

Upon entering, you'll first see the Fuchi Shrine. We weren't able to look around inside but during the cable car ride, we saw that there are a lot of tori gates at the back of the shrine.

For shrines and temples, you're supposed to rinse your mouth and wash your hands before entering. Doing this, you purify yourself first and it's a sign of respect when visiting temples.

I've been to a lot of Buddhist Temples but I'm still confused on the things that I must and mustn't do.

First time in Japan and loved it to bits! I hope to be back for a lot of times more in this lifetime. hehehe

There isn't an entrance fee at the observation deck. All you're going to pay is the round trip cable car ticket to the summit that costs 1,230 Yen.

An added attraction at night is this installation called the Tunnel of Lights which is composed of 7,000 LED lights. It's on a walkway you'll pass through on the way to the observation deck.

Several Nagasaki, Japan souvenirs available at the lower station.

Ready for the Million Dollar View that is atop Mount Inasa/ Inasayama, Nagasaki

Nagasaki Ropeway

The cable car was a short ascent from the lower station and it operated every 15 minutes. It wasn't scary but buses should be available for those who do not like riding cable cars.

Nagasaki Ropeway

My favorite mode of transportation. <3

Daytime at Mount Inasayama, Nagasaki

The view would definitely be a lot more beautiful at sunset or at night since but going there during daytime means not a lot of people would be up in the observation deck with us. <3

We were able to go far in Northern Kyushu mainly because we saved on a lot of transportation costs with the JR Pass.

From the Nagasaki Train station, we just walked towards the bridge. You can ride a tram but we decided to walk 'cause when we searched Google map, getting to the bridge takes less than 20 minutes.

We had a wifi connection with us for the entire trip so getting around was fairly easy. I suggest you rent your own wifi or buy a Japan simcard especially if you're not the type to ask around or if you're going far from Hakata, Fukuoka.

There are a lot of other stone bridges that cross Nakashima River. However, what makes Megane-bashi a lot more special than the others is because it is the oldest stone arch bridge in the whole of Japan which was constructed in 1632. It has been destroyed in 1982 but was later restored when they recovered the stones.

It wasn't obvious in the picture 'cause was around noon time when we went here but in the afternoon, you'd notice that the bridge and it's reflection on the river looks like a spectacle. Thus, the name Spectacles Bridge.

A friend of mine told me that this photo above is, "lakas maka-anime" I haven't seen a lot of anime tbh but I kinda agree because this whole setting looks very traditional Japanese to me.

It's because we don't have places like this here in Manila that the mere walking on the side of the river is already a delight. We didn't have enough time to explore the upstream nor the downstream of the river but it is kinda similar with the Cheonggyecheon Stream in Seoul.

Cheonggyecheon Stream and Cheonggye Plaza Walk link: here.

There are a lot of other places worth exploring in Nagasaki but we only went there for two; the Spectacles Bridge and the Mount Inasa/Inasayama which is considered one of top three best views in the world. Will be posting about that too.

The entrance fee to the tower is 800 Yen per person but we've already purchased tickets from Klook at a lower price before going here. All we did was to show the QR code to the lady at the ticket booth and she handed us our tickets immediately.

All the sightseeing towers in Japan. Tokyo's Skytree is the tallest tower in all of Japan but Fukuoka Tower is the highest seaside tower with a height of 234 meters.

360 degrees viewing deck so you can look at the ocean and the buildings of Fukuoka.

Going around the whole observation room area didn't consume a lot of time but we had to form our line at the picture spot so spend quite a long time in the tower.

The main attraction inside the tower is this corner for your Instagram goals. :)) We formed our line for at least an hour just so we can take photos here.

Worth the wait though. Andun na lang rin naman.

Nice view of the city lights/skyline of Fukuoka plus the galaxy-like light splatters  (below) and small starts (top) make this shot look more beautiful.

The tower is located on a seaside. If we followed the initial plan and arrived here earlier, walking at the shore was actually a great idea too. We weren't able to do that since we arrived a bit late.

The tower is not that huge but it is definitely an ideal place to get a glimpse of Fukuoka skyline. I paid for this VR telescope (whatever you call this) and I instantly regretted paying. HAHAHA!

One of the interesting features of Fukuoka especially Hakata area, is the bridges. I enjoyed walking along the rivers and on the bridges 'cause it felt so "Japan" I don't know if I'm making sense here but I hope you understand what I meant. :)))

Locks for couples

We visited Uminonakamichi Seaside Park the morning before Fukuoka Tower. Back then, we didn't realize yet that our face got sunburned from the long walk at the park but my discolored nose is already visible from the photo above.

Anyway, this is a picture place for couples. I believe you're both supposed to touch the heart and it'll light up.

A place to encounter sky and sea if only we were a little bit early to actually see the sea.

LED light show of the Fukuoka Tower.

There's a bus station across the building so going and leaving isn't difficult.

First Time in Japan: Northern Kyushu Itinerary, Expenses and Travel Tips (From Hakata in Fukuoka)

In the Ramen Capital of the World, Fukuoka, we figured it'll be a mistake not to eat ramen so we chose Ichiran. This is one of the more famous ramen places in the area so expect a wait especially if you're going there during peak hours.

Their place is a huge building, the first floor are for groups. We were a pair but we wanted to try eating at the solo ramen booths so we went to the second floor.

Outside the door, you'd see a vending machine. You are to choose your order and pay your order at the machine. In turn, it'll dispense a paper indicating the order you paid for which you'll be giving to the server.

One ramen bowl was 890 Yen and the additional 130 Yen was for the soft-boiled egg. Didn't order drinks anymore since there's a service water in each booth. Even refilled my water bottle there. lol. :)))

Once you're seated, you'll be filling out this from that has options on how you'd like your ramen. I wasn't a fan of ramen and I would just usually share with my mom's order whenever we eat at ramen restaurants here in PH but I don't know, I liked Ichiran's version a lot that I was able to finish an entire bowl. I realized that ramen can doesn't have to be "heavy" and shouldn't make you feel bloated.

I look forward to visiting ramen places here in MNL now especially Ippudo since we don't have an Ichiran yet.

The specialty of Ichiran is a tonkotsu based ramen and they make it outstandingly well. The broth tasted rich and savory. Unlike other ramen I've tried, there's umami taste in it but it doesn't feel like it's full of MSG.

Once your order is served, there is a wooden blind that is let down for your privacy. You can slurp the goodness of this ramen without a care in the world. Made the experience a lot better, tbh,

We didn't stay for a long time in the restaurant 'cause a lot of people were coming in already. They have instant ramen you can take home as well.

Ichiran's Branch in Hakata, Fukuoka is this entire building. I heard that they have a branch in New York too.

And that marks the first and definitely not the last time that I've finished one whole regular bowl of ramen by myself. hahaha!
