I have always had problems dining alone whenever I'm in public. In fact, I am proud (or should I be ashamed?) that in my more than twenty years of existence in this world, the ratio of me eating alone and eating with someone is probably 1:100. And... of those 1's out of 100's, there's still a ratio of 1:50 for rice meals (1) and burger, pizza, pasta etc. (50). This is the reason why I have high regards someone who can manage and who isn't uncomfortable to eat alone in public.

But there will come a time when you just want to be alone for a couple of hours before going back to reality and I found my "safe space" here in Afters Espresso along Tomas Morato. I know this is not a big accomplishment but for the first time (I really think that this is the first time), I ate alone not because I have to but because I chose to. Just like what the adage says, "the only person you have to make friends with is yourself and you'll never be alone." I should get it over with and be more at ease with just me. So very much easier said that done so enoughhh. This isn't about me but about Afters. :))

For my matcha latte, it looked good but lacked the taste. It was so mild and diluted that the only thing that made this matcha was its green color. Or maybe not that bad but for those who are like me who would rather drink bitter matcha rather than those creamy/milky ones, this wouldn't be for you either.

For my chocolate cheesecake, I like it although I'm not really certain if there are qualities in this cheesecake that would stand out from the rest. I am interested to try their other cakes and gelatos though, heard they're mostly good stuff.

As for the ambiance, I don't know if I was just in the mood for some peace and quiet but it is a cozy place. I was lucky there were only six customers and all of us were by ourselves. For that time and that day, it was a great place to kill time and for me-times.

Katipunan has a lot of restaurants and fastfood joints so the place is always worth visiting. Syempre, with hopes that the traffic is not that heavy but it's very rare that it is not these days. I don't know what has happened but it seems that the traffic situation in the Philippines has worsen. Traffic na rin sa mga lugar na hindi naman usually traffic dati. Tsk.

Pagkain na lang pampa-good vibes.

I think my order was mixberry banana. I don't know what happened to me too but it seems like I'm more inclined to order a strawberry flavored everything these days. I'd usually go for matcha or chocolate but stores offering matcha is rare so it's usually chocolate but these days even if chocolate is an option, I'd still order strawberry. Baguio pls. Hahahaha.

Their milkshake is good and priced less than a hundred pesos. Hindi ko nga namalayan na naubos ko na 'yan agad.
The fastfood beside Starr's milkshake is Chubby Chicken

It's not the usual double fried/soy garlic chicken because of the garlic sauce. I'm a "dip/sauce-person" if that kind of person exists, gusto ko madalas 'yung may sinasawsawan ehh so the sauce was a plus for me. The serving is huge though I forgot how much the price was but it's less than P 150.00 for two big pieces of chicken. Pwede na!
Chubby Oreos

With chubby oreos, oh nothing can go wrong when you combine fried oreos with ice cream.

I got this while doing grocery because I needed a stress-reliever.

I was focused on the words MATCHA LATTE that I failed to realize that this is a milk tea.
I mean, I love both but I'd prefer them not mixed. Kung matcha, matcha lang at kung milk tea, milk tea lang.

But this one's fine although it really tastes milder than the matcha I'm used to but I'm still seeing myself buying another box in the future.
Okay na ang P 105.00/box/10 sticks.

Where can I buy pure matcha powder in Q.C.?

At bakit nga ba ko na-stress?

Last Friday, I was drinking soy milk then I accidentally spilled the contents of the bottle on my keyboard.
Ayan, ang short circuit and the entire keyboard had to be replaced.

That's P 1,400.00 down the drain dahil lang sa carelessness ko at P 20.00 na bote ng soy milk. Huhuhu. Ticket na sana 'yan sa MHL concert nung Sabado.

But every broken thing has a lesson... (pampalubag-loob)

BAWAL NA KUMAIN NA MALAPIT SA LAPTOP.

Pasalamat na lang ako at 'yun lang ang nasira at agad naman napalitan.

A year later, nakikipila pa rin kami sa J.Co.
Link of first blog post here.

Since I have 4 matcha donuts to take home or to eat there, I wanted to order something else for my drinks...
I got Caramel Seasalt Frappe
Due
P 145.00

I believe this drink's a new variant.
It has mocha cream on top and I was surprised that it tasted more like coffee.

I was expecting something that tastes similar to Merry Moo's Seasalt Caramel Ice Cream when I ordered it.
It tastes good too but since I'm not a coffee drinker/lover, I kind of just "forced" myself to drink all the contents.
Start with a Munch and end with a Sip!
Are you up for a glazzier smile?

I don't know until when but they're giving a free glazzy donut for every beverage purchase.

When I was constructing my Matcha Ice Cream @ Family Mart entry, I looked for a post about one of my favorite drinks in Serenitea called Uji Pyramid then I realized that I haven't posted anything here yet. Medyo taken for granted 'tong drink na 'to ah. Haha.
But it's better to be late than never so I'm posting this here now.

Uji Pyramid is a combination of Vanilla ice cream and Japanese matcha slush.

Large size cost P 105.00

Personally, I don't like the combination of red bean and matcha but it's what most stores offer like the one I had in Mochi Cream link: here. This given, Uji Pyramid has become one of my favorite matcha drinks. It's the perfect combination of the grassy taste of matcha and the creaminess of the vanilla ice cream.

I recommended matcha to a friend in hopes that he would also like it as much as I do, then on his first sip he blurted out, "Lasang Damo." or "Tastes like grass." Regardless of what he said, I'll still be what he calls a matcha freak. Anyway, their matcha love story didn't end that day because he "learned" to like it as well after some time. In fact, I was surprised he ordered Uji Pyramid for himself and was able to drink everything without complains. I was waiting for him to give me his order after his first few sips like what he did for two times already. I am disappointed that he drank everything and I don't know what to feel that he is now asking me to take him to Family Mart too. Papalitan na ba trono ko? Hahaha! Acquired taste it is.

Be surprised if it won't have grassy elements, afterall, matcha is powdered green tea leaves.

Today is Splurge Wednesday!

Although I've been anticipating this drink, it wasn't planned that I'd drink this today. Not in the budget so it's definitely out of budget. But okay, for the experience.

The newest pair in Starbucks beverages: Dark Mocha with White Chocolate Pudding Frappuccino and Green Tea with Chocolate Pudding Frappuccino.

It's not a surprise (especially if you've been to this blog before) that I am a sucker for matcha. Like what I always tell my friends, "Tara, matcha... kase matcha-rap, matcha-rap, cha, cha, cha, cha" (In the tune of Ryzza's Chacha song.)

I may be a chocolate-lover but Starbucks is synonymous to Green Tea Frap and when I saw SB's post before regarding the launch of these two drinks (which was yesterday
) I was excited.

Venti, P 200.00

The white chocolate pudding gave my favorite drink a twist with its creamy and soft texture. It has enhanced the taste of the green tea frap and it is worth giving a try especially for those who like chewing something while drinking. (WTF. HAHAHAHA. Di ko mapaliwanag, as usual.)

Outrageous Cheesecake
P 130/slice

I loved this cheesecake!
And it looks so fun, doesn't it?  It reminds me of the Christmas season and oh, if you get to see a whole cake, you'd also be reminded of our native delicacy called sapin-sapin.

The cheesecake is rich and creamy with some fruit bits and the colorful top layers are fruit compotes of mangoes, blueberries and strawberries.

Hadn't Amici by Cara Mia changed my views regarding ordering colorful cakes with berry flavors, I wouldn't even think of ordering this one even if I love cheesecake. But so far, since Amici, I am not yet disappointed in any.... hahaha! Lol. 2 pa lang silang natikman ko.

On another note, my waistline is getting outrageously thicker and thicker and thicker. hahaha! Need I say more?
