When I went to Busan, I didn't have a proper itinerary of the places that I wanted to visit. In fact, the only things that came to mind were Gamcheon Cultural Village and the apartment shooting location in Fight For My Way. I didn't research much but when I got there and settled in Jangsan, Haeundae, I spent one night outlining my places of interests that are mostly TREKKING/HIKING PLACES especially 'cause Jang Mountain's trail head was only 20 minutes from where I lived. :)) I was able to go to some of those places alone... probably the reason why I enjoyed Busan so much is the presence of hiking places. <3

From home, I tried to find Dalmaji-Gil. I walked around and got to this wooden walkway. The thing with travelling/walking alone is even if you don't know where you're going and got lost or no matter how tiring it is, you don't have to worry about making someone feel uncomfortable and exhausted.

Well, yeah. I got lost trying to find this walkway but when I found it... I wasn't even sure. HAHAHA! So as usual, I continued walking, walking, and walking...

I have seen pictures of Dalmaji-gil during Spring when Cherry blossoms along the streets are all blooming and it was very beautiful! I wish I can come back to Busan again in the future for Spring. Anyway, I know that it won't be the same for everyone but having this whole place by myself for most of the time that afternoon was something that I think I prefer more than walking here with a lot of people. lol.

I continued walking until I reached the trailhead for Moon Tan Road. I looked at the time and then when I saw that I had enough before sunset, I decided to walk inside and see where this trail leads.

Moon Tan is the night version of Sun Tan. Gets? :)) This is the place to go when you want to walk at night, look at the moon, and do "moon bathing" Walking on this road on the hill of Busan, the moon feels near. I wish we have something like this in the Philippines as well. :( Kulang ng parks dito sa QC!! :(((

The light source on the left side of the picture above? Those lights up at night... although yeah, I don't think I walk here alone at night. Haha!

I went here on my third day in Busan and back then I didn't know that I'll be doing these kinds of walk alone in the woods. Hahaha! This is a good time if you want to try conversing with yourself. hahaha!

Busan has Galmaetgil Trails... I never had a copy of the map but I saw the signs in some of the places that I went to.

Dalmaji Gil is the first part of the Galmaet- gil.

I've walked through most of Galmaet-gil in a span of one month.. some residents I've talked to actually joked about it that I knew Busan more than them. Hahaha!

Soon, I reached the viewing deck. This is where people wait or look at the moon once they're in Moontan Road.

Can you see the forested mountain on the left at the picture above? Well, I once walked from the left-most end of that to the bridge (on the right) hahaha! It's called Igidae Coastal Walk, more than six kilometers, and it's my favorite activity/place in Busan. I'll blog about it next time.

While taking pictures here, I met one grandfather/harabuji... I conversed with him in Korean and although I can't understand some of things he was saying because I'm really bad at comprehending Busan accents (back then...) I felt very welcomed when he told me that I should just live in Busan! HAHAHA!

Since this was the first coastal walk I did there, I really felt in awe. :))

I love the combination of the scent of the ocean and pine trees. <3

I didn't took it to heart that it's really dangerous...
I fell inlove....
I fell inlove with Busan's charm. huhuhuhu

After taking picutres, I decided to walk back to the trail and continued walking until I saw that there's a pavilion and there are two options to get there.

One was to walk around, and the other was to climb straight up. HAHAHAHAHA! I did the latter. Wiw strong! Traverse mag-isa. hahaha! There was a trail but it seemed that not a lot of people pass through it so I was glad when I saw someone trimming the trees.

How to get here?

Subway: Jangsan Station (end of green line), then take a cab/bus

or walk from the subway station

Busan National Geopark

I knew that I am going to live in the vicinity of Jang Mountains so I was looking forward to climbing it but never did I imagine that I am climbing it on my first day in Haeundae, Busan. :)))

First and Second day in Busan link: here.

From home, we asked which way was to the park and we were told to just follow the stream for it leads to Jangsan Falls.

And so that's what we did until we reached this lake/park... we still had enough time so we had the chance to explore this park until we reached the road that leads to the trailhead.

Above is Jangsan Falls.

Swimming is not allowed.

And then we reached the park where you have two options, one is to walk up the steep incline in front and the other is to take the stairs on the right.

We took the incline...

I never had the chance to go back to this area to find out what is in the end but we found the stream of rocks. We had to descent before sundown because we didn't have flashlights with us that time.

In one of the websites I saw, it said that Jangsan has an unusual high percentage of rocks fields/block stream from a volcanic activity some 70 million years ago.

By the way, I went back to this mountain twice after this. One was a solo hike, then when I went back to the dorm, they asked me where I went so a few days after that, we went back for a group hike. But yea, I never got to see this stream of rocks again though.

Busan, South Korea: Jang Mountain and Jwadong Traditional Market (Group Hike)

A friend of mine returned for a solo hike but she didn't see both the Observatory and Stream of Rocks, rather she ended up in the field of Autumn Silver Grass. Maybe if we had spent an entire day in Jangsan rather than afternoons (4-5 hours), we would've seen the entirety of it. hahah

Stream of rocks it is. I'm not too brave to pose there so above is the only picture I took with the big rocks. Haha!

I was able to climb Jangsan twice after this but those were just in the same area/viewing deck but I'll be posting that in the future.

If you have a day to spare in Busan and you like to hike, I suggest that you do that in Jangsan because you'll be able to see almost all of Busan from there - Songjeong Beach, Haeundae Beach, and Gwanggali Beach from the top. Also, there are several hiking trails and hiking attractions that you can see in the mountain range. <3

Almost all hiking places in Busan has this thing where you can blow stuff off of you. HAHAHA! Di ko ma-explain but the air is used to clean your shoes and shirts of pests and dirt after the hike.

Location: Jangsan/ Jangsan Mountain
Nearest Subway Line: Jangsan Station, exit 10

*I was told that there's also a trailhead near Haeundae. I think I walked in that area once but I'm not really sure where it is.

I saw this map from the blog of  I Travel Through Kdramas so by following the blue route, it was very easy for us to reach the apartments. By easy I don't mean that we didn't feel tired, I mean that we didn't get lost. You'll be passing through alleys of houses and almost all are uphill so be prepared.

I knew that we found the right place upon seeing this. This was where they were walking at when Kim Ji Won showed her aegyo.

Truth be told, this apartment was the main driver for this Busan trip. Last February when I was searching for the Fight For My Way Shooting locations, I learned that most of the shooting locations of the drama are in Busan and since then, Busan has been on my list.

It's my all-time favorite Kdrama so...

Choi Area (Kim Ji Won) left house
Go Dong Man (Park Seo Joon) right house

It has been more than a year since the drama was released but I believe, until now, a lot of fans have been going to this place because harabuji/the old man who lives there was like, "The guy on the right, girl on the left."

The residents are nonchalant about the fans visiting and taking pictures of their houses so the next best thing you can do is be quiet and try not to be so intrusive while taking pictures since this is a residential area.

OPPA!!!!

Above is the gate to Go Dong Man's house. Hahaha!

Also, one of the funniest scenes filmed in this staircase was when Ji Won was wearing dress and then Seo Joon told her to change because her beautiful legs can be seen. 🤣🤣🤣

I lived in Haeundae while I was staying in Busan and it's very different from the area of Bomcheondong so I also found it fascinating; the houses here.

I told myself that I'll be blogging more while staying here in Haeundae, South Korea... I don't know. Just to have a journal of my thoughts in the next several days since I'll be staying here for a whole month.

My Cebu Pacific flight from NAIA Terminal 3 was on time so I was able to catch the last limousine bus from Incheon International Airport to East Busan. The ride took five hours and we were in the East Busan station at 4:30 in the morning; I was asleep the whole travel time so I didn't know where it passed.

This signage above was taken in the rest stop though I didn't go down since I couldn't understand the driver's instructions. lol. Anyway, the bus was comfortable; it's still a good thing that I was able to ride it than wait until 5:00 AM for the first KTX (Bullet Train).

...

The bus station was connected to a train/subway station so getting to where I am staying was easy as well. It took an hour but I only had to transfer once so it was a bit comfortable as well. Nakakapagod syempre, kasi walang maayos na tulog but bearable. Always naman kasi I love long comfortable bus rides.

I slept the whole morning and while I was getting ready to go out of the hostel to grab some lunch, one of my dorm roommates whom I met for the first time that morning told me that she's thinking of climbing the mountain that was near our place. And I was like, "I want to go too!"

Little did I know that after having our brunch, we were already heading to the mountains. HAHAHA! The jump off point was just like a 10-20 minutes walk from where I currently live.

I am not sure what those trees are but they look like maple trees and they're starting to change colors. <3 This is the exact season/scene that I want too see, I'm glad some trees are changing colors already even if it's just the first half of September.

We couldn't reach the top since we were out of time but I'll make sure that I will return here before I leave... we just stopped at this part that looks like or that is a stream of big rocks before heading back down.

From where I currently live, Haeundae Beach is just around 10 minutes walk so we went there last night at around midnight. You'd notice the containers there and they were setting those up for BIFF 2018/ Busan International Film Festival. I am not sure how it goes but it's going to happen on the first week of October.

This place so reminded me of San Francisco, California because it's by the beach and fog envelopes the city on most times these days.

During those times when you can't help it but be alone on this chosen life of yours, you ask yourself if it's worth it or what it is that you're actually doing...

The people I met here in Busan have way different travel style from the people I met in Thailand. It's probably because we're all smitten by South Korea's charm that most of them have stayed/ have been staying for more than a month now so most of them have become friends already even if they were solo travelers initially. My visa allows me to stay for 30 days which I plan on maximizing, but their passport allows them to stay for 90 days. Kk. Hindi ko naman din afford mag 90 days. lol.

However, just like how the USA felt like home, I don't try to reach for my camera as often I should and would when I'm out of the country. Haha! I'm trying thooooo, mas maganda pa rin ang marami kesa kulang.

Some people would share things like, "you can't get your money back, but not your time" tho sometimes, I can help it but question if this is worth it.. I mean, para saan, diba?

After all the questioning, I see this map by the road and then again think to myself that everything may be worth it because of all these beautiful places... because no matter how uncomfortable things, situations, some people can get... I chose this and this is where I wanted to be in for the longest time... diba, be grateful na lang. <3

And I may not have notice it but I'm pretty sure that I'm getting stronger each day... hopefully, questions will have answers after this Sojourn. :))) Kaya I need to do this blogging again quite often.
