Driving along the slopes of the artist drive kinda felt like a mild roller coaster ride.
After the Badwater Basin, we drove back passing through the Artist Drive where the Artist Palette can be found.
Why Artist Palette?

As you can see, the badlands in here are multicolored compared to the rest of the badlands that can usually see in the valley. This is the closer look of the rocks at my back when we went up the hill here.
We drove back to Hell's Gate but I don't have a picture of that place and straight to Dante's View for an overlook once again, this time of the Badwater Basin, Black Mountains and the Coffin Canyon.
It was said that on a clear day, you can actually see Mt. Whitney which is the highest peak in the contiguous United States. Hey! How cool is that?! To actually see the lowest and highest point at once.

Mt. Whitney are in Yosemite National Park and Sequioa National Park, both of which we weren't able to go to so soon. :)) Very very soon. hahaha!
The temperature in this area is at least 20 degrees Fahrenheit lower than temperature of Badwater Basin.

It actually started drizzling that we had to go back to the car immediately and look for another place to go to.
Had to walk for a short distance to get to this part.

It was breezy and cool so it was easy.
Sunburn.

Akala mo lang wala.

Pero meron, meron, meron.
Trivia: The highest temperature recorded here in Death Valley was taken in July 10, 1913 at 134 Fahrenheit or 56.7 Celscius!

One of the must sees when here in Death Valley National Park is the Badwater Basin because it's the lowest point in all of North America at 282 feet below the sea level.

We would always see Salt Lake City signs whenever we're driving through the interstate but that's just too far for a day tour haha but we were still able to to see a salt flat which is this, the badwater basin.
Below this picture's watermark is where the "Sea Level" sign is placed, you can barely see it in the picture even in person since it's kinda hight but it's to give an idea on how low is 855 meters is.
The sign at Badwater Basin.

As I was stalking their Instagram page, they posted a picture where they edited a picture of someone great (I forgot the name) who has been here decades ago and the caption went like, "Think of the great persons who've been here before you." Huhuhu. Yes. :)))) That felt good hehe
Closer look of the salt flats.
There were some holes where you can see water that are obviously very saline.
Arte with the badwater at the back a.k.a the place in Death Valley that we wanted to see.

After the Twenty Mule Canyon Overlook, we drove for the Badwater Basin but being the travelers with no plans that we are, we saw cars parked at the trailhead of the Golden Canyon.

It didn't seem like a good idea back there since it was so hot but we only thought of that halfway the trek so it was initially a good idea hahaha... :)) But it is really a good idea once you've reached the Zabriskie point, just that it was not easy. Paki-excuse na lang ang magulong ako.

Imagine walking at 11 AM in this kind of landscape!

This is what it's like to trek in Mars haha badlands rather.

What are badlands? Lands that are bad. Sobrang smart ko pls. :)) But according to the dictionary, badlands are extensive tracts of heavily eroded, uncultivable land with little vegetation.
Macro shot of one area showing how frail and soft looking the externals of this sedimentary rocks are.
The big red rocks are called the Red Cathedral.

It was kinda hard 'cause the trek was uphill and there weren't any vegetations and shaded areas for us to rest but the people who've passed by us always said, "Hang on. You're near and it's worth it!"

We continued... we drank all our water since we only had like 500 ML each. Yes. So galing. If you have plans trekking here, please bring water. More than enough water especially during summer.
This part was the only assault actually.
The badlands from Zabriskie Point! YEHEY!!!
Badlands and Funeral Mountains.

Is it worth it?

YES!

The sweat was worth it.

HAHAHAHA.

Seriously though, weeks prior to going to Death Valley we haven't sweat a lot even if we tried trekking for a lot of times already.
That was the first and the start actually of the hot days we've experienced in Nevada.
Sometimes you find yourself in the middle of nowhere...

And sometimes in the middle of nowhere, you find yourself.

That's something I'd say but you know after days, months and years of "feeling lost" and "paghahanap sa sarili" eventually, you'll decide that the quote "Life is what you make it." is more applicable. Hindi tayo naghahanap dito, gagawa tayo!! GAGAWA. Char haha.
Nearing the trail head!!

Are we still on Earth?

Forever grateful for this chances of being able to see Your wonderful creations. <3
Hindi mo kasalanan Death Valley, kung walang nakakayanan mabuhay sa kung anong meron kaaaa. Hindi mo kasalanan. Makakahanap at makakahanap ka rin. HAHAHA!

It was a clear and hot day with almost no clouds! Just less than a day of  walking, we all got sunburned.
HAHAHA!

Okay so on the way to the Badwater Basin we saw this hill again, which name I don't know haha and decided to go down the car again and go up that hill.

See how small the car looks like from the hill? :))) This was a bit high kase in the middle of the flat lands and mountains... so valley. Hill in the middle of the valley.
Kinda hard 'cause there wasn't an established trail and the pebbles enter out shoes but worth it!

That's the artist palette drive area at my back.

Notice the different colors of the rocks. The varieties of colors are proof of the very violent volcanic eruption that shaped the area during the Miocene Epoch which was million years ago.
Days in Death Valley are really hot and there is very little water so naturally, vegetations die especially during summer but I heard they have a very beautiful view of the Cosmos at night!!

That's probably the reason why according to the Death Valley National Park website, "Half of the park is after dark." Huhuhu! Makes me regret not staying a bit after dark. :(( But I believe naman that I can experience how it's like to see the Milky Way and hopefully the Northern Lights someday in this lifetime. Yes, universe? Yes? :)))

On the way to the Death Valley and the view from the Twenty Mule Team Canyon Overlook

Okay so we skipped Six Flags Amusement Park for another day spent at a National Park and the chosen park for that day was The Death Valley in California mainly because of the badwater basin which is the lowest point in all of North America.

Someday, I'll get to visit other National Parks all over the world! Charuu hahaha

Okay so we went there again without a lot of prior research (as always) hahaha but we do know that it's going to be hot since it's also the hottest and the driest place in N.A.

From where I lived, there are two ways to get here one was from Baker, California and the one was in Pahrump, Nevada. We passed through Pahrump since we haven't been there.
The names of the places were actually the thing that made us go, "OMG! Are we doing this for real?" hahaha. As soon as we got the map and we read that there are places named, furnace creek, devil's hole etc... are we going to experience hell in Death Valley?

Where did Death Valley got its name? The National Park Service Website has answered it for us link: here.
I'm used to seeing this bird 'cause we have a lot of this flying freely in our apartment complex but heyyy why'd you have to show up before we entered the premised of Death Valley?! HAHAHAHA
Staying true to its name, it was really hot there.

How much more during summer?
This unsatisfiable craving for wide-open spaces.
I got quite confused though with the name of two areas here in Death Valley National Park so I'm just assuming based on my light research that this is the Twenty Mule Canyon Overlook. Haha. The problem is this looks a lot like the other area where we trekked which I will be posting next.

This post will include the Virgin River, Temple of Shinawava, and way to The Narrows of Zion National Park.

We drove back towards the entrance of Zion.
The one in the picture is near the area of Zion Junction.

We parked our car near the museum thinking it was still open hahaha. Anyway, the musuem was the second stop of the free shuttle so we decided to wait there.

Okay, so these are the trails in Zion. :(((

We only trekked two. HUHUHU.

Did we know about this earlier that day, we could've trekked through more. :(((

Canyon Outlook Viewpoint / Trail: here.

Much better talaga to go to a 2 days, 1 night trip or more when in Zion. Even more days when in Utah. There's just too much to see in the land where life is elevated!! :(
I wasn't the only one even if I looked like it. Hehe.
While riding the shuttle, the driver narrates the places too see.
So this was the river that we were looking for - the virgin river.

It is 261 kilometers long and flows all the way to Lake Mead in Nevada. Virgin River is what carved the rocks and canyons of the area over the past million years.

The Lake Mead is near the Valley of Fire and Hoover Dam.
Temple of Sinawava Area

We reached the end of this trail.

This is near the entrance of the Narrows, the place in Zion that I wanted to go to.
But the current of Virgin River was kinda strong and we weren't ready to get wet plus it was a bit past 7 PM when we got here... the last shuttle bus back the museum leaves at 8 PM so we just decided to stay for a couple of minutes there and appreciate the beauty of the area and trek back to the shuttle stop.
Haaaaay, Zion.
I'm inlove.

I'm inlove even if there was no slot canyon experience for me.
Thanking the heavens still that at one point in my life, I stood there.

Could've been my first time hiking/wading upstream a river and through the narrows of course! Hahaha!

Hiking through the narrows is actually one of the most dangerous activities you can do in Zion because the threat of flash flood. Even if it's not raining in the area, rain water from miles away could pass through the Virgin River and cause a life-threatening flash flood. Water level can increase in minutes or even seconds so hikers should check on the weather before hiking.
This marks the end of our Zion National Park Day tour. Huhuhu. Wanted to see more but we ran out of time.
It's a long drive back to Vegas Skies. <3
It felt like we didn't do a lot in Zion but out of all the lakwatsa I did, Zion was the only place we went to that made me feel so hella tired. HAHAHA. Ayun na nga. :))
