The first time I tried Ca Phe Saigon was in their The Corner Market branch in Podium, Ortigas

LINK: HERE.

This new branch is along Sumulong Highway. I'll be embedding the map at the end of this post 'cause I'm not good at describing locations. I am from Quezon City and although Marikina branch is closer to me, I find this branch easier to go to 'cause we frequent the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Shrine. It's nice to have Ca Phe Saigon as one of our choices when we're in the area.

Dry Noodles with Spring Rolls
P 130.00

Fresh Spring Rolls
P 180.00

Ever since my Ho Chi Minh experience, these two food items above have become my favorites. I always look forward to eating the dry noodles even if I still can't pronounce it right two years after the first time I was able to try it. lol. Just like all the food items that will be included in this post, their version may have a little modification that suits Filipino palate more but still good as authentic especially since a lot of ingredients in cooking these dishes are sourced from Vietnam.

Tamarind Pork Ribs
P 270.00
slow cooked fell off the bone pork ribs basted with tamarind sauce

Not everyone may be a fan of the noodles and vegetables so it's a good thing that they have several rice meals that you can choose from.

Banh Mi

Regular: P 120
Special: P 190

Pho (Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup)
Regular: P 160
Special: P 260

We went here two Sundays ago and it was raining hard but it was a perfect day to enjoy a hot bowl of Pho. The broth of pho is clear and it has flat rice noodles.

Ate pouring the broth of the beef pho.

Seafood Noodle Soup
P 270

One of the reasons why I like eating Vietnamese cuisine is that it's very light and I don't feel bloated after all the eating. Look at all the dishes on the above photo and they're all with different kinds of vegetables - very healthy.

Vietnamese Dry Noodles
Chicken/Pork/Beef: P 140
Shrimp: P 170

Tbh, even the process of mixing the noodles and the fish sauce immediately reminded me of the food I used to love in HCMC. :)) I always look forward to eating versions of Vietnam's dry noodles.

It may look simple but mixing the fish sauce with the noodles transforms this entire dish into something else - para bang nilagay 'yon para maging united or maging complementary 'yung flavors ng bawat ingredient na meron sa bowl. I first found it weird and I'm not a big fan of noodles but this, again, has become my favorite Vietnamese food. I can eat this everyday especially since I can change the meat/rolls that go with it. Not to mention that the price point of all the food Ca Phe Saigon offers is affordable so it's a place that I can always consider going back to.

I don't drink coffee but I want to show you the drip coffee container they have. I heard that the coffee comes from Vietnam so it's definitely good. The reason why they use condensed milk is because the taste is very strong so mix it depending on your preference.

PS. The interior design in very nice. There are hints of Vietnam to it very simple but well put together.

Matchawifestival... Gosh, after a lot of anticipation over the weekend. I went home sawi and broke yesterday. :((( Chos! Nahinayang ako sa byahe, don't think I'll be able to go back on a weekend to attend the festival.

Okay, so the Matcha festival runs for the whole month of September. Keri. The usual articles I read mentioned that participating restaurants have prepared their own matcha-infused dish to serve for the festival and that there are matcha goodies sold. I don't know if it's me who overlooked that detail or hindi talaga siya masyado na mention na although everyday 'yung sa resto e every weekend lang ang stores. Anyway, before I left for the States a lot were raving for the then newly-opened restaurant called Ichiba. We just tried that out since sawi-sawian nga ko sa matcha goodies, subukan na lang 'yung gustong subukan months before pa tapos transfer to another restaurant to get dessert na lang 'cause all they had there was a soft-serve matcha. (Family mart memories, beshy oh!

10 minutes...
20 minutes...
30 minutes...

My family were trying to be patient kasi nga gusto ko talaga ng matcha so they waited with me.

40 minutes... "Ate, pa follow-up naman 'yung order please."

Yes, without telling the servers. Huhuhu. SAKIT SA PUSO PLEASE!! Salamat sa tubig. :(( hahahaha! Di ko na sila i-mention kung sino.

1. Kapag excited ka talaga e noh!

:(((( HAHAHAHA.

As in super sama talaga ng loob ko. Tsk

Kaya ayoko na bumalik muna sa casino. Kakaloka!!! Naputol na Vegas - Solaire winning streak Hahahaha!

Anyway, balikan na lang natin 'yung good memories when I did a Staycation in Marriott  Hotel, Newport Area. Although I have no idea when and how, I am looking forward for a Maxim's Hotel Staycation! Sobrang ganda ng pool nilaaaaa. Bali levels!!

Japanese Restaurant in Tagaytay City: Aozora Japanese + Bistro at Domecillo Hotel.

Back in the day when our default gala place was Tagaytay, we would always search for things to do and restaurants to try- that was years 2012-2013. Cliffhouse was one of the places we looked forward to visiting but unfortunately, that group of friends and I was never able to go there. Anyway, I've mentioned this in my wrapping up post for 2015 that I had the chance to rekindle old friendships last October and the fated place of our bonding session was in Cliffhouse.

I know that the background story is unnecessary haha I just felt like putting it. :))

Taal from Cliffhouse's viewing area. Someday I shall trek there.
Here's Deja Vu.
Mango, special cream sauce, caramel syrup, ice cream, whipped cream
P 248.00

This is a safe menu item especially for people who loves eating mango. The flavors complement each other very well... huh, hahaha.
I didn't get to taste Butter and Sugar with Lemon Crepe pero masarap daw.
And then ginger tea tastes a whole lot better with some honey.
Cliffhouse Finally. :))

Ano pa ba meron sa Tagaytay? True!! Traffic. Maraming traffic. :)))
Funtastyc

Banana, chocohazelnut spread, chocolate sauce, grand marnier flambe.

This was funtastyc! And a cause of shock for my younger sister who ordered this without knowing what flambe was. The taste of alcohol added character to the already flavorful combination of the different ingredients this crepe has. It also balanced the sweetness of having chocolate spread and sauce and ice cream in one bite, also you'd feel the contrast of hot and cold in your mouth more on flambed crepes compared to the regular ones.

This is located at YMCA hotel in front of Sacred Heart Church, Makati but they also have a branch in Maginhawa Street, Quezon City.

To give you a brief history of the restaurant, the word Galli is a combination of the owners' surnames Garcia and Villongco.

Please excuse the pictures. Haha!
Tin was late (again)
Don't be like Tin.
Always anticipate the hellish traffic jams.

So there, I came in late thus they were already eating when I arrived. But these pictures I have here would still work. :))

Their paella is only made if there's an order to ensure the freshness and the taste so be prepared to wait for 45 minutes but you can also order in advanced. But, if you decide to wait then I assure you that this is going to be worth it. Uy, walang hugot. Masarap kasi talaga.
Beef Salpicao

Unfortunately, this wasn't that remarkable for me but they only use beef tenderloins so it's not surprising that this was tender.
Shrimp Gambas

Not only because I am shrimp biased but this one was my favorite of all the viand I had for that night. You know how bad I am at describing food but this one's really really really good that I took the last piece. HAHAHA. Alam mo naman nagkakahiyaan sa last piece diba?  E you could really taste how fresh the shrimps are so huhu obviously, I wasn't able to resist.

Nga pala, they only use sugpo for this one.

I love that they always make sure they're only cooking the finest ingredients yet still manage to make everything reasonably-priced.
Chicken Al Ajillo

Bet with rice! If I were to rank the viands I had that night, this comes in second to the shrimp gambas.

Galli Village Cafe may be a small restaurant in Makati but the pictures and paintings there are big things. Hehe.

All the decorations found are remembrances and souvenirs from the owners' previous travels in several countries. These pictures undoubtedly added a different feel to the restaurant - and even made the place much closer to the heart hehe. Of course, more inspiration for us who have been bitten by the travel bug.
I wasn't able to take pictures of the entire place but there are a lot more decorations, travel magazines even.

Btw, you may reserve the whole area for small celebrations or family gatherings.

Thank you, Ms. Christine for having me again and Aldous for organizing this event. :))

I ate my first Hainanese Chicken meal in Singapore. Back there, the meal wasn't one for the books but it definitely made me want to try other restaurants serving Hainanese Chicken.

Anyway, most of the restaurants I've gone to didn't even make it to my Instagram account but Wangfu made it twice. My first time in their Il Terazzo branch and this one in UPTC. So ang espesyal kapag na-Instagram at na-blog ganon. HAHAHA.

Meal comes with soup and tofu with pork floss. I think this set meal is also with unlimited rice, I am just not sure.

The chicken was cooked right - it was tender and juicy. I wish I could say that this tastes close to the one I had in Singapore but no I can't because this is much better. Also, the three dipping choices are so good though only spring onion with ginger soy sauce are for me. Yup, Wangfu's one for the boo...blog. :))
This is the first time trying Salted Egg Fried Chicken.

The main reason why I ordered this is because I was curious as to what it tastes like. What can I say? It tastes good especially since you can really taste the flavor of the salted egg as the breading and it's quite crunchy but this is something that I probably need to get used to before appreciating it fully.  You know those food that you're used to eat with a constant partner (Salted Egg with Tomatoes) that pairing it with other food isn't something you immediately like. Or ako lang 'to. Haha.
Pork Chop with Chinese Style Mayo

This one's good to but there's an umay factor. Should've have stuck with Sweet and Sour Pork.

I don't remember why I have no picture of our Shark's Fin Dumpling but it is something you should try. As in, okay na nga ko dun saka Hainanese Chicken Rice eh. :))

Green Tea and Bamboo Charcoal Ice Cream? Unfortunately not. :(

It was Bamboo Charcoal and Queso de Bola that day. :(((
I've been doing groceries in almost all grocery stores near me since the old Cherry Foodarama closed and one of those that I am frequenting is Walter Mart in Munoz so I got the chance to go here since this is near the building of Walter Mart.

Loyal ka for several years dun sa nawala, remember?!

I will blog about the groceries I liked the most soon but the feels and the hassles I've experienced, I am posting them now. Haha!

Napagod ako at nainis kasi nga nagsara 'yung Cherry lalo nung unang naga-adjust pa, parang napaisip kang bakit nga ba hindi mo mas pinahalagahan nung andyan pa.

Nga pala, here are the grocery stores in order of my preference: Waltermart in Munoz, Mercado in UPTC, Landmark in Trinoma, S&R Membership Shopping in Congressional and, Rustan's in Powerplant.
It was during the Christmas season when I went here which is why they had Queso de Bola instead of matcha. But anyhow, for a 25.00 swirl-all-you-can ice cream, this is a good deal.

If you're wondering what the charcoal tastes like, it tasted like a vanilla ice cream with black food coloring.

I've tried to research on this and found out that charcoal is actually being used as a food ingredient nowadays but I am not sure if this has real charcoal powder in it.

Maginhawa Street in Teacher's Village is the street of first to nth rounds if you know what I mean. It feels incomplete if you're only visiting one out of the several restaurants there. Or usual, baka ako lang 'to.

Here's my rounds one and two, Tornado Peri-Peri Chicken and Sancho Churreria Manila. 10 weeks ago na pala! My golly.

One thing when you're the person who's kain ng kain is there's a tendency that the people you're with rely on you in choosing where to eat. They're like, "Ikaw, ikaw naman maraming alam na kakainan." I appreciate that but like what I am always saying, it's tough to be the one deciding because what tastes good for me may not taste good for them. At! :)))

The usual scenario when it's an unplanned Maginhawa food trip is we walk along the street without an idea on where we are going to eat. Tingin lang and then pag may recall 'yung resto, okay na dun.

Will be back, #tornadoperiperichicken 😋 #maginhawa #food.
A photo posted by Tin Gallemaso (@xtintina) on Aug 30, 2015 at 4:03am PDT

We were only supposed to cross the street pero sinalubong na kami ng staff nila. Haha! I haven't tried eating here as well kaya sige, dito na lang din.

I don't know what Peri-Peri was. All I know is I have a low tolerance for spicy food so I ordered the original variant. Oh, I learned that peri means pepper.

The chicken was grilled perfectly - tender and not too burnt but I had friends who were disappointed during their visit 'cause they were served dry and bland chicken daw kaya idk. The sauce tasted new to me that I don't even know how to describe it (as if this is something new). I liked it though there's a slight hint of star anise. Never liked star anise in my food buti na lang kaunti lang.

The place was small and it was kind of hot inside. If I return there, I'd sit at the tables outside.

For dessert, it was Sancho Churreria Manila.

We liked the #chocolate dip a lot.😋 #sancho #churros #maginhawa @sanchochurreriamnl
A photo posted by Tin Gallemaso (@xtintina) on Aug 31, 2015 at 9:09pm PDT

P 88.00

A friend recommended Sancho to me before saying that they're well-known for their churrros con chocolate so when we passed by their restaurant, dun na lang.

For the price and taste, this is definitely a steal. I captioned in my Instagram post that I liked the chocolate dip a lot because it's bittersweet. I like the taste but I hope it has a thicker consistency.

One similarity of these restaurants is their social media presence. They both replied to my Instagram posts and Peri-Peri take pictures of all their diners and post them in their Facebook account.

I was finally able to go back in the area where I spent most of my days before, Bonifacio Global City.

You know what frustrates me? It's that we found it hard to find a decent and affordable meal before aside from fastfood chains and yet they are almost everywhere in BGC now. -_-

One of those that I have tried is Shawarma Bros at Bonifacio Stopover which offers reasonably-priced meals without compromising the product quality.

Order here.
They were a food truck before deciding to put up their flagship restaurant for stability.

I'm slow at noticing things like this pero mukhang truck pala 'yung order area at may pedestrian lane pa oh. hehehe.
They are not claiming that they are offering authentic Persian and Mediterranean cuisine but as to what I have tried, their food tastes close to authentic and it is actually good in its own way.
I love the idea of printing out Instagram screenshots and posting them there for other diners to see.
Syempre diba, when you're taking time editing your Instagram-worthy picture, one thing that would make you prouder other than having an awesome IG feed is when the establishments you Instagrammed or other people recognize/appreciate your post.
This was my order
Beef Shawarma Rice with Keema Meal
P 229.00

The first thing I noticed when they served me my food is that the serving size is big.
Keema
Cheese and Garlic Yogurt Dip

You get to choose two sauces for your food.

I liked the garlic yogurt dip more than the cheese. Maybe it's because I was having rice that I didn't appreciate the cheese sauce that much.
One thing you'd notice when you're eating with your fellow bloggers is how everyone is taking time taking pictures of the food that it gets cold before one is able to have his/her first bite.

No regrets and not complaining because this is HOW we usually are. Mas komportable nga kesa 'yung kakain ka kasama 'yung hindi mahilig magkuha ng pictures kasi kailangan mo pa magpaliwanag at pigilan silang kumain agad. Haha.

My order was beef but it wasn't greasy so I had no problem eating my food even if it has already gotten a bit cold.
A closer look of the printed out Instagram posts.
Drop by, experience their food, be part of the story and celebrate friendships at Shawarma Bros.

BGC Stopover Pavillion, corner of 31st Street and Rizal Drive, Taguig

I was in Rockwell looking for the restaurant where I bought my matcha powder last year but I wasn't able to find it. Hahaha! Hindi ko alam kung bangag lang talaga ko o wala na 'yung restuarant pero 'yun nga, I failed to purchase. San pa ba meron??? :(

To appease myself, I tried Churreria La Lola.
I tried this mainly because the long lines have always made me curious.
Churros Clasicos

Large (12 pcs.) P 195.00
Hot Chocolate Dip (Large) P 100.00

Infairness naman, I kind of got surprised upon seeing the price. What should I expect, diba? But t
hen I got my order and I instantly thought that paying that much was reasonable. Sulit na.
Ang laki ng churros nila that we only two pieces and took the rest home.

They're freshly fried (in olive oil), the skin was crispy but the inside was soft. But as a chocolate lover, what made me like this more is their Hot Chocolate Dip.
Yes, this is simply one of the most delicious churros I've eaten.

E diba nga, churros con chocolate  'to? Baka kasi bagay. :)
The only thing I didn't like was their location.

It was so uncomfortable because as I've said, the line in La Lola is oftentimes long and those people who come and go at the store would see you eating. Medyo awkward for me. Although I'm not dismissing the idea that you're not supposed to eat this sitting down. 'Yung packaging kasi, mukhang pwede mong hawakan kaya pwede kang kumain habang namamasyal.

Heard they now have a branch here in UPTC. Good job!
Puntahan niyo na kami lahat sa North!!! Hihi. <3

a.k.a the go to restaurant during walwal days. 24 hours kasi 'yung West Avenue branch, diba? #tumatandaproblemzzz
Here's my order.

This is my first time ordering this because I always ordered a rice meal. This didn't look filling at first. Hahaha! But okay na 'to, busog din pala.
Shawarma Plate

Gusto ko 'yung timpla nung beef and the "unli" garlic sauce. Haha. Ge. :))
And of course, pita bread para talagang shawarma.
