I'm showing you one of my favorite places in Seoul: Cheonggyecheon Stream

But only when there's not a lot of people though :)))

I noticed that I tend to go to tourist attractions that aren't frequented by a lot of people and that's the reason why it's almost always offbeat paths. While Cheonggyecheon is popular location of some festivals, there are a lot of days when it's not full of people.

And this is one of those nights...

It's an 11 KM long walkway that lets you get-away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's there in the center of it all and yet you'd feel that you've traveled far away.

We were originally from DDP area and you can actually start Cheonggyecheon Walk from there but we chose the harder trail which was go up to the Seoul Fortress and then walk down to the Gwangjang Area and that's where we started the walk along the stream.

Lantern Festival happens in November but these wall paintings are all year round.

There are a total of 22 bridges that are built along the stream but you can also find stone bridges (like the ones on the top picture) if you want to cross to the other side of the stream.

This is also a shooting location of a lot of Kdramas such as Chicago Typewriter.

Not  a lot of people that night hahaha and actually, it's all because it's pass 9 PM on a winter night! :)) Wala lang kasi talagang winter sa Pilipinas kaya kahit below 5 degrees ang weather e keri lang kasi nga pag-uwi, mainit na naman. :))))

This is Cheonggye Plaza, a popular culture and arts venue and people going to walk along the stream usually starts from this part 'cause it marks the beginning of the stream.

I enjoy going to Korea during winter and this is definitely not the last! :)))

Composing this blog post with that kind of face above 'cause I miss Haeundae, Busan. </3 I miss having long walks that lead to the mountain and to the beach. I miss the cold weather and the food. Yep, if there's one place in this world that I always have separation anxiety with, that has to be Haeundae.

One afternoon while walking around on my own, I reached Daechon Park (above). I glanced at the clock and I was like, 에라 모르겠다 and I went straight to the hiking trail and see what's up there. And that, my friend, was my first ever solo hike :)))

BOOK YOUR ADVENTURE HERE:

East & West Busan Exploration with Busan Skywalks, Gamcheon Culture Village, and Haedong Yonggungsa Temple Day Tour

With nothing but my water and camera, I decided to continue walking and see where the trail leads me. I had less than three hours to complete the trail that time so I had to walk fast and take the easy trail. haha!

The trail is well-paved but the lack of signage made me think a lot of times if I was on the right trail but once in a while, another hiker will pass by me and that's when I'm reassured that I am not lost.

It was easy. No need for a complete hiking outfit though that's the common practice in Korea. It's unusual to see a hiker that is not dressed like a hiker. If you know what I'm saying :))

This trail was long with some steep ascents but bearable. It will lead you to an exercise area that I have no picture of and from there the staircase/ steps is not more than a 10 minutes walk.

I was in awe the first time I saw this view. AS IN. SHET. ANG GANDA.

Above you can see Gwangan Bridge. The buildings on the right are part of the Marine City area and the stretch of "forested area" on the left is called the Igidae Coastal Walk which I have posted about as well. In the farther part of the picture above, is the part of Busan which may be more familiar to you especially if you're watching a lot of Korean dramas.

Gamcheon Cultural Village should be somewhere there and the Namil Villa, the residence of Ko Dong Man and Choi Ae-ra in the drama Fight For My Way.

At the back is MY neighborhood in Busan, it's called Jangsan (since it's at the base of Jangsan Mountain) and the taller buildings are the high-rise buildings along Haeundae.

Will always be home <3

Kapag walang taga-picture, tamang patong lang ng camera kung saan saan. ahaha!

I'm thinking of going back to Busan again and if that happens, I'll make sure to go hiking in Jangsan and I will surely reach the peak that time. <3 There's also a Eulalia Grass area in somewhere and it's beautiful as well!

Descend was harder than the ascent 'cause some parts of the trail felt slippery.

To get here:

Take the subway to Jangsan Station and from Exit 10 just continue walking to Daecheon Park. You won't get lost, just follow the trail on the side of the river.

Suggested itinerary for this side of Busan that will include a lot of walking:

Morning/Sunrise at Haedong Yonggungsa
Lunch somewhere in Jangsan Neighborhood
Daecheon Park and Start Hiking
Instead of going back to Jangsan, exit the park at Haeundae side.

Either, continue towards Dongbaekseom for another coastal walk
Or explore Haeundae Traditional Market

Wait for the sunset along Haeundae Beach and just sit on the shore. Buy your snack from the restaurants and convenience store and eat by the beach. <3 <3 <3

Walk to Bay 101

-end-

If you're commuting from Baguio to La Trinidad, this will be a good itinerary since the places are jeepney rides away.

From Burnham Park, you may ride a jeepney going to La Trinidad and ask the driver to drop you off at the street/entrance of Bell Church and just walk towards it.

After Bell Church, walk out towards the street and continue walking (right if you're facing the street) and you'll reach The Colors of Stobosa.

Once you're done taking photos in Stobosa, you can ride a jeepney again to the Strawberry Fields.

It's easy to get there from Manila and it's also easy to navigate in Baguio especially when there's not too much people. I've experienced Baguio on a long weekend and the traffic congestion was so bad that I'd rather stay home. Nonetheless, Baguio remains to be my happy place.

I have photos from Baguio taken from the first time I went here some 20 years ago so I was glad to be able to visit here on my own.... two years ago. HAHAHA! Bakit ang bilis?! I have a lot of backlogs as in super but I'm trying to upload them now and I just realized that this Baguio trip happened in 2017 pa!

Not like Baguio City and Strawberry fields, there aren't a lot of people in this Taoist Temple which was kinda surprising 'cause all along, since I had pictures here like I mentioned earlier, I thought that this place is as famous as Mines View Park but yeah, given that most people here are Roman Catholic baka they're not interested. Gusto ko lang din kasi talaga nagpupunta sa temples.

We only stayed in the middle part of the place near the fountain 'cause the gate leading to the staircase was locked. We also didn't know what to do should be enter the church so we didn't.

Reminded me a lot of the Taoist Temple we visited in Cebu though this is a lot smaller.

Going here might be hard for older people though 'cause you'd have stairs to climb to get to the church.

But yeah, if you want to try going to a Chinese Temple then you should definitely stop by this area.

If at one point in your Busan Tour, you decided to beach hop then may I suggest that you head to...

Songdo Beach - this is where you can do a lot of stuff such as cable car and skywalk
Dadaepo Beach - this is the farthest but has a good sunset view
Gwangalli Beach - this is the beach on this post, on the horizon from that beach is Gwangandaegyo.
Haeundae Beach - if you just want to spend the night listening to the waves

I've actually plotted the beaches in Busan and you can view the map here:

Above is a picture of Gwangan bridge from the entrance/exit of Igidae Coastal Walk. If you want a picture where the bridge is as close as possible then this is the place you have to look for.

According to my research, it is the second longest bridge in South Korea connecting Suyeong-gu and my beloved, Haeundae-gu.  MY BELOVED TALAGA HAHAHA

As you may or may not know, my Busan trip was a solo trip and I only met my friends from the hostel where I stayed at. That's the reason why for some days, especially the first few days, I was alone when touring the area.

This was one of the places that I saw while looking for the must-visits in Busan but it looked far to me during the first few days since I was living in Haeundae and the only time that I got a glimpse of it was when I was in Moontan Road.

These are just some night photos since I didn't do anything there aside from watching the light show at the bridge.

Although it's not as captivating in the picture, there's a reason why this is considered an icon in Busan. Ang ganda niya tignan lalo na kapag sa gabi.

It's only now did I realize that I wasn't able to go there at daytime.

BELOW ARE THE PHOTOS OF THE BRIDGE TAKEN AT DIFFERENT LOCATIONS IN BUSAN: 'Cause I can proudly say that in my one month stay there, I've been to a lot. Much more than I expected and hoped for, tbh.

Above is taken from Shinsegae Mall.

If forgot which part but it's from one of the walkways there.

Zoomed in bridge from Moontan Road.

The picture above and the four pictures below are taken along Igidae Coastal Walk.

Above picture shows you most of Haeundae

R-L

Dalmaji Gil/Moon Tan Road, Haeundae Beach, Dongbaekseom, Marine City, Jangsan Mountain

I've walked through all of the places above though I haven't completed my Busan trip posts at the moment.

Above is taken from Jangsan Mountain, yep that mountain from the other pictures (in Igidae).

See. If the photos aren't enough to show how much of Busan was I able to explore then I don't know what will.
