L.A Buddies Kitchen and Grill
"The Home of Pansit Panalo"

Acoustic night every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday.

On nights when there isn't a live band, I could actually just hang out here outside. I've known Pasig to be one of the busy places with a lot of traffic congestion. Going here in L.A. Buddies actually felt like going far outside the metropolis since there weren't a lot of people and cars in the area but it's just near Ortigas Extension so still a strategic location. Tamang chill lang, ganon.

The KTV room is rented for 2,500 PHP with 2,000 PHP consumable and the room can accommodate up to 10 pax.

Below are some of the food items which we were able to try. All delicious and all are priced reasonably. If you're used to hanging out at the more commercialized places in Pasig, you should know what I'm talking about. It was a surprise to see L.A. Buddies' price point in the area - but is a nice surprise, noh.

Good food and dining experience doesn't have to be expensive.

Nachos
P 165.00

The nachos were thin and crunchy. They also didn't skimp on toppings for this.

Crispy Isaw
P 170.00

Their version is crunchy and perfectly paired with their vinegar dip. I love eating isaw so I couldn't stop myself from getting some while waiting for the other food to be served. Mas napili ko 'to over nachos.

For nachos and isaw, I'd have them with beer while listening to the live music if there is. And for the rest of the food below, pahingi na lang po ng kanin kahit dapat na pulutan pa 'yan...

Pork Binagoongan
P 240.00

Fatty goodness but it's my favorite dish of the night. :)) It's basically like a crunchy liempo with bagoong sauce but the flavors compliment each other... my mouth is watering as I am typing this. lol

Pansit Panalo
P 215.00

And just by looking at it, you'd immediately understand why they call this pansit panalo. I mean, just look at all the toppings. For the price, serving and the taste of their pansit - sulit na sulit at panalo talaga. If you look at their Facebook page (which I'll be linking below), there should be a pricelist there for the pansit and other food items that you can take-out or have delivered to your place.

Papaitan
P 195.00

Their version is one of the very few papaitan that I liked eating because it's not that bitter. It tasted a lot more like sinigang because of the sour broth but the papaitan taste is still there.

White Chicken
P 300.00

Their version of Hainanese chicken is also a must-try. It's cooked just right so it's very tender and perfectly paired with the three sauces.

Butterly Tilapia
P 260.00

All the dishes are for sharing and so far, there weren't any that is priced above P 300.00. Meaning more budget for beer on a long night. :)) And have I mentioned that their bucket of 6 Heineken beer is only P 300.00?

This place is a must-visit when you're in the area but they also offer delivery especially for their pancit in Bilao which can be delivered anywhere in the Metro with Lalamove.

Open Monday to Friday from 5 PM to 12 Midnight (can be until 2 AM on some nights).

You can view their Facebook Page: L.A. Buddies Kitchen and Grill

HAHAHAHA!

MY BB's BENCH FUNMEET IS FINALLY HAPPENING ON THE 29th of SEPTEMBER AT THE MALL OF ASIA ARENA. <3

PHOTOS FROM PARK SEO JOON'S FAN MEET.

LINK: PARK SEO JOON'S FILMING LOCATIONS I'VE VISITED IN SOUTH KOREA

EDIT: Seo Joon became the model of IAM Worldwide, guys! I heard he's coming back to Manila this October 14, 2023!!!! Will update if they'd post details about it na. OMG. Sana magkita kameeee! ❤️ Lee Min Ho's also coming on the 15th. Ano naaaaaa. Kailangan po ba pumili? 🤣🤣🤣

Got these photos from Wilbros:

Refer to their Facebook page for more information about Park Seo Jun's Fun Meet in Araneta Coliseum on October 14. 😍

Ang layo na ng narating ng Bench from Lee Min Ho's funmeet with Patron's price worth 1,600 PHP to Park Seo Joon's funmeet with Patron A's 6,000 PHP and Patron B's 4,000 PHP. But I'll also give props to myself since there's also progress on my part 'cause I was able to afford a lower box ticket this time worth 3,000 PHP. At kung hindi nga lang pahirapan mag-avail ng Patron A or B e kaya ko ng patusin 'yun... all for Seo Joon. :)))))

I've been supporting Seo Joon eversince "I broke up with Lee Min Ho." :)))) Life has been generous after the funmeets since I've seen Lee Min Ho in person for sooooooo many times such as  my experience last winter in Korea link: here.

This funmeet, albeit not being one of the VIPs, is the culmination of all my silent cheering (or not really silent haha!) and supporting of oppa Park Seo Joon. It's kinda amazing how I used to get excited with seeing his pictures, going to the shooting location of his dramas when I am in Korea and here I am now, holding a lower box invite to see him in person on the 29th!

PSJ's Shooting Locations that I was able to visit in S.Kor:

Morning Calm Arboretum
Namil Villa (Fight For My Way, Fanstastic Four's House)
Orangdae
Seoullo 7107
Ilgwang Beach
Dongdaemun (DDP)

Park Seo Joon in Manila for Bench FM

On the day that I learned Park Seo Joon might go here in the Philippines for a fan meet, I told myself that I can shell out P 5,000 to P 7,000 for him which could've gotten me a Patron A ticket worth P 6,000. HAHA! I didn't like the mechanics of getting the Patron A and a lot of fans obviously have more dedication than me that I decided to settle for Patron B. Still, a lot more fans have more dedication than me that Trinoma branch has sold off all its Patron B invites just hours after opening... and when I asked the staff on the invite that I can get this afternoon, she told me that only Lower Box and Gen Ad tickets were left. I rushed through the items - not even fitting clothes and jeans - paid the items, found out I miscalculated it, LEFT my credit card with the cashier and I told her to wait for me 'cause I'll be getting something to qualify for the required spending.

I panicked.
I didn't think properly.
I was kinda desperate.
I was annoyed.
I really want to see him on the 29th.

The facebook posts with other fans panicking surely didn't help either 'cause I wasn't able to think things properly. :))) Soon, after I got my invite, we transferred to Vertis North to eat at Ippudo. VN has another Bench branch there, which I knew of, and guess what? THEY HAD A LOT OF LOWER BOX INVITES AND THOSE PURCHASING FROM THAT BRANCH WERE TAKING THEIR TIME SHOPPING. WHAT?! I GOT ANNOYED AGAIN - not at bench, definitely not with PSJ but with myself. Well, it's not like I'll buy different stuff 'cause I only wanted jeans and tshirt in the first place but I could've enjoyed the shopping experience more was I not rushing to get in line at the cashier. Looking back at the whole experience, I realized/re-learned a lot of things:

that I have my OWN blessings and that I must focus on the things I like rather than be affected by other people (if this makes sense). I know how Korea fangirls are and so I wasn't able to control my emotions 'cause I know that it will only take minutes (or few hours) for all the invites to get sold out pero still, may I always remember that I HAVE MY OWN BLESSINGS and if it so happened that I wasn't able to get an invite then I'd be sad (heartbroken probably is the best term) but it will still be a form of blessing in some way. Pero 'yun nga, in life, rushing 'cause we think that blessings are running out or there's not enough blessings for everyone may sometimes be the reason for us not to appreciate and enjoy our own journey. As long as we do our best and act, may something naman para sa'ting lahat eventually.

that I have to be more mindful of my spendings and save as much as I can. I am not getting any younger and I know na kasabay ng pag-increase ng perang dumadating sa'kin e laki din ng increase ng perang ginagastos ko. I am thankful to have the budget for this even if it was only announced two weeks ago pero I think, this time, I should be more responsible with the way I manage my finances. Do you want to share that journey with me? Hehehe. Payaman tayo!!!! We have our own blessings nga, 'di ba? There's enough for everyone. Hindi na lang road to airport but road to financial independence din, mga ganyan. HAHAHA!

that if I want something then I should find ways to make them into reality. I've been achieving things naman so far, kulang lang sa appreciation paminsan. May I always remember that I have to act in order to achieve something. Here's to greater things that we'll accomplish!!!!

Park Seo Joon in Manila for Bench FM

In the future, if I encounter something similar to this, I would always ask myself what it is that I want and I would stop myself from looking at others (or what other people are doing) so I can remain calm and patient. MUST.NOT.LOSE.CALM I hope to always remember that if things get confusing then I should step back, assess the situation, and act the way I deem best. Wag na tayong lutang, self. :)))

I may always have a back-up plan... at mag relax. I went to Trinoma thinking, "kung wala akong abutan, edi wala." but when I found out that I had a chance, aba, addict mode ang ate mo girl. HAHAHAHA!

That I may always look at my life in the present and be grateful for all the improvement and progress even if they don't seem much. Seven years have passed since the inception of this blog and a lot of things have happened since then and I'm happy I've written some of my thoughts here to remind me of my emotions that I've forgotten and wishes/hopes/dreams that eventually became reality. hehe.

Lastly, kung sakaling panic mode na naman ako someday... e wag na ko masyado mag-overthink paminsan kasi nga some opportunities knock only once. HAHAHA. Siguro at the end of all these, baka overthinking lang pala problema ko, noh? :)) Sabi nga ng author ng book na binabasa ko, there's no point in dwelling in the past. The concern now should be, "what should I do next?"

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes, but when you look back everything is different? – C.S. Lewis

Addtl: From Vertis North, we went back to Trinoma and it rained hard so the Bench paper bag got wet and look at what happened to it. :))) Sobrang memorable ng araw na 'to, I SWEAR.

Alam ko na this is just the start of seeing Seo Joon in person. I will see him for a lot of times more in the future but still,

life,
matutupad na 'to,
sige na naman,
baka pwede na,
'yung isa kong wish...
hahahahaha!

The first time I tried Ca Phe Saigon was in their The Corner Market branch in Podium, Ortigas

LINK: HERE.

This new branch is along Sumulong Highway. I'll be embedding the map at the end of this post 'cause I'm not good at describing locations. I am from Quezon City and although Marikina branch is closer to me, I find this branch easier to go to 'cause we frequent the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Shrine. It's nice to have Ca Phe Saigon as one of our choices when we're in the area.

Dry Noodles with Spring Rolls
P 130.00

Fresh Spring Rolls
P 180.00

Ever since my Ho Chi Minh experience, these two food items above have become my favorites. I always look forward to eating the dry noodles even if I still can't pronounce it right two years after the first time I was able to try it. lol. Just like all the food items that will be included in this post, their version may have a little modification that suits Filipino palate more but still good as authentic especially since a lot of ingredients in cooking these dishes are sourced from Vietnam.

Tamarind Pork Ribs
P 270.00
slow cooked fell off the bone pork ribs basted with tamarind sauce

Not everyone may be a fan of the noodles and vegetables so it's a good thing that they have several rice meals that you can choose from.

Banh Mi

Regular: P 120
Special: P 190

Pho (Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup)
Regular: P 160
Special: P 260

We went here two Sundays ago and it was raining hard but it was a perfect day to enjoy a hot bowl of Pho. The broth of pho is clear and it has flat rice noodles.

Ate pouring the broth of the beef pho.

Seafood Noodle Soup
P 270

One of the reasons why I like eating Vietnamese cuisine is that it's very light and I don't feel bloated after all the eating. Look at all the dishes on the above photo and they're all with different kinds of vegetables - very healthy.

Vietnamese Dry Noodles
Chicken/Pork/Beef: P 140
Shrimp: P 170

Tbh, even the process of mixing the noodles and the fish sauce immediately reminded me of the food I used to love in HCMC. :)) I always look forward to eating versions of Vietnam's dry noodles.

It may look simple but mixing the fish sauce with the noodles transforms this entire dish into something else - para bang nilagay 'yon para maging united or maging complementary 'yung flavors ng bawat ingredient na meron sa bowl. I first found it weird and I'm not a big fan of noodles but this, again, has become my favorite Vietnamese food. I can eat this everyday especially since I can change the meat/rolls that go with it. Not to mention that the price point of all the food Ca Phe Saigon offers is affordable so it's a place that I can always consider going back to.

I don't drink coffee but I want to show you the drip coffee container they have. I heard that the coffee comes from Vietnam so it's definitely good. The reason why they use condensed milk is because the taste is very strong so mix it depending on your preference.

PS. The interior design in very nice. There are hints of Vietnam to it very simple but well put together.

It's almost the changing of season once again and 2019 has been incredible... incredibly fast. hehe.

This is an appreciation post for the once in a lifetime Spring experience in Japan and USA. This is my first legit Spring experience and my heart is ecstatic and full. Pero once in a lifetime nga lang ba? ABANGAN. HAHAHA!

Huis Ten Bosch
Part 1
Part 2

This Europe-themed park was the main driver of our Fukuoka trip this year. Europe has always been a dream destination but it's still far-fetched at this point because of the expenses but we'll eventually get there. Anyway, if you see some parts of this park, it really looks like Amsterdam so I'd consider it a lucky charm. <3

Baby Blue Eyes
Uminonakamichi Seaside Park

These are the reasons why I fell inlove with Spring travel. I didn't realize in until our trip in the flower fields of Taiwan in 2017 that I like flowers but they have to be planted. Sabi nga, "flowers are in their most beautiful state when left where they're blooming."

One of the Sakura first bloom in Ohori Park, Fukuoka, Japan

Finding these trees was a challenge but we were lucky 'cause there are several trees in bloom around Ohori.

Somei Yoshino
White Sakura in Maizuru Park, Fukuoka, Japan

It was the beginning of Spring when we went to Japan but thank goodness that the blooming begins in Southern Japan so we were able to see several trees with bloom and not just buds.

This is a good place for viewing when the trees are in full bloom 'cause almost all the trees are cherry blossoms.

Along the river in Hakata, Fukuoka

We went to this river that night because we wanted to try eating at a Yatai stall but there were too many people so we headed somewhere else to eat. What we saw though was this cherry blossom tree by the river so we went back in the morning for better photos.

Growing cherry blossom trees in a street of Hakata, Fukuoka

These cherry blossom lined street which we saw by accident 'cause were killing time before our flight back to Manila. They're not yet fully-grown but they're still a sight to see. Fukuoka has been generous with cherry blossom sightings. <3

Fukuoka, Japan 2019: link: here.

Above is the garden of Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The theme was Japanese Garden that's why they had a replica of the Osaka castle in the middle.

I am not sure of the schedule but they change the theme of the conservatory every few months.

Bellagio Water Fountain Show and Conservatory link: here.

This was the place where I first saw a lot of tulips back in 2016. Still one of my favorite places in the whole of Las Vegas. <3

Someday, Osaka Castle!! Will be coming for you!!!!! Hehehe.
Haaaay. Hindi na ata macu-cure ang wanderlust. HAHA

The Flower Fields
Carlsbad, California

This is a seasonal attraction in California that opens March 1 and closes May 10. It's a huge place filled with a lots of flowers and if you go up the hill then you'd be seeing the ocean as well. I forgot what the name of the flowers in the fields are but they're beautifully landscaped and are very pleasant to look at. I've yet to post about my previous US trip but yeah, definitely one of the places worth coming (back) to.

From Los Angeles, we flew to New York on the first of May. I wasn't able to roam around Central Park because it rained on the day that it was on the itinerary so I don't know if there are other sakura blooms that time.

But hey, had my "hanami" in the states in Long Island, New York. Ganito pala itsura niya kapag in full bloom!!!! You really have to catch the time when it's full bloom because the petals of the flowers would fall when the leaves grow.

Kanzan

Double blossom sakura of Long Island, New York

These trees were by the train station of Selden, Long Island. Passed by the trees several times but only had one chance to take photos with them. hehehe. Still. Grateful. Infinitely grateful.
