Insadong is one of the neighborhoods in Seoul. Compared to all the other streets you can visit, this is the one that felt more traditional and "South Korea" more on this later.

I don't know about you but one thing that made me excited especially during my first time in Seoul was the Hangul letters everywhere. Ganun naman, 'di ba? You're in Korea syempre kailangan mo makita 'yung sulat nila. Hehehe!

But it was only during my third time there did I find the time to visit... kung hindi pa 'to nabanngit sa drama na "Because This Is My First Life" baka hindi ko pa rin napuntahan. Haha!

While Myeongdong is, I think, the most famous shopping area for tourists there are a lot other options such as Insadong, which has become a favorite of mine.

In here, you'd see old tea shops and antique shops. It's more of a commercial area so you'd find a lot of stores but the thing that makes it unique is it gives off a more traditional vibe. Kinda like an old soul... I mean, old Seoul.

Went here just after exploring Gyeongbokgung and Bukchon Hanok Village so we were starving. There weren't a lot of open stores that day since it was the Seollal (Chinese New Year).

This was my lunch.

Actually went inside for the gukbap since I have been craving for it since day 1 but couldn't find any. The difference of Busan and Seoul is that in the former, it was easier to find gukbap restaurants. lol. haha! But I eventually found restaurants that serve it in Gwangjang Market btw.

Below are the photos of logos and signs that are in Hangul. Definitely a must see when in Korea 'cause not all branches are written in Hangul especially the foreign brands.

If hunting for souvenirs, this is also one of the places that you can do that since there are a lot of souvenir shops. I am not sure but for bulk buying, the 10 pieces nail cutter with keychain (typical pasalubong kasi dito sa Pilipinas, kapag nag-uwi ka e kailangan meron lahat haha), was cheaper than those I saw in Myeongdong Subway Mall.

Direction:

From Anguk Station (line 3), take exit 6.

This is the continuation of my previous post wherein I enumerated the Three Skywalks you can visit in Busan link: here.

Places to visit in Busan, South Korea link: here.

Ilgwang Beach

Located in the Northeastern part of Busan - this beach is isolated and a bit far compared to the more touristy and crowded beaches in the city. However, given that there aren't a lot of people here, more often than not you can expect a quiet and serene trip while staying here. This beach is one of the shooting locations of the hit 2017 Korean drama, "Fight For My Way."

Gwanggali Beach

One thing that would differentiate this from all other beaches in Busan is the Gwangan Bridge.

Although beautiful during the day, visiting it at night is also a must because it offers a spectacular view of the Gwangan bridge light show. The bridge is considered as one of the icons of Busan and it spans through the part of horizon that is seen from this beach. There's also a fireworks festival that takes place in this year area annually.

Dadaepo Beach

Underrated beach in Busan probably because of its location which is the farthest among the places I included here. If you don't have an entire day, it's best to visit the place in the afternoon because it's a great place to watch the sunset. After which, you can watch the musical fountain show and eat dinner in one of the restaurants there that offers outdoor seating. The water is shallow and gentle - almost like a mud flat sometimes. There's a boardwalk with a lot of trees so it's a mixture of the scent of the ocean and pine trees which was very relaxing.

Songdo Beach

Aside from the numerous cafes and restaurants nearby, there are a lot of activities that you can only find in Songdo. If you want to experience riding a cable car over the ocean, walking on a skywalk, doing coastal trek then Songdo Beach is the place to be in. Btw, it's Korea's first official beach which opened in 1913.

Songjeong Beach

This is more known as the surfing beach in Busan because it has high waves compared to the other beaches and yet it is less crowded because it's not usually frequented by tourists (unlike Gwanggali and Haeundae). It's also a great place to view the sunrise and moonrise while in Busan. Near this beach is Haedong Yonggung Temple which is considered as the most beautiful temple in South Korea.

I never saw people swimming in Haeundae but there were always people in this area.

Last but definitely not the list and my personal favorite: Haeundae Beach. <3

Haeundae on a foggy morning. <3

Above photo was taken on my first night in Busan.

Above photo was taken on a Saturday night when there are a lot of people lighting fireworks which you can purchase from the vendors in the area. Another thing to look out for when spending a night in Haeundae are the street performers/buskers especially during Fridays and weekends.
Located in the Eastern part of Busan - Haeundae beach is considered as one of the most famous beaches in the area especially since it's used as the location of Korean dramas and some festivals and cultural events are held throughout the year. There's a traditional market and restaurants where you can try various food. There are also a lot of street performers especially at night. Busan Aquarium, Moontan Road, Dongbaek Coastal walk and Bay 101 are also in the area.

Additional:

This area is the fishing village/coast called Cheongsapo, it was only around 20 minutes walk from where I stayed in Jangsan. It's not a beach but you can still enjoy the ocean view while eating in one of the many restaurants in this area. It's a very quiet place in the middle of Haeundae Beach and Songjeong Beach. Actually, if you have enough time and energy, the entire coast from Haedong Yonggung Temple to Haeudae Beach is "walking distance."

Must-visit Places in Busan, South Korea link: here.

GU JUN PYO!!! HAHAHA

There are a lot of ways to get to the Namsan Tower. Four of your options if you're coming from Myeongdong are: cab, bus, cable car, and hike.

For this post, I've included my first and second visit to Namsan. For the first time, my chosen mode of transportation was the bus 'cause it's the cheapest one and for my second time, bus then hike down to Myeongdong.

This is it for my first time in Namsan.

I only stayed near the bus station and then left 'cause I didn't have enough time since my flight back to the Philippines was on that evening as well.

For my second time, I had the entire night to explore Namsan area and Myeongdong.

It's a bit of a walk if you're coming from the stop so if you don't want to walk, then you'll be better of riding the cable car since the upper station is just across the entrance of the tower.

It was a freezing night but this lady who grew up in a tropical country doesn't own decent winter clothes. HAHAHA!

The best time to go here is minutes before the sunset so you'd be able to see Seoul in two ways.

There's a viewing area in the tower and I heard the view from the restroom is good as well (since it's wall is made of glass) but I didn't want to pay for the entrance so we just walked around.

Busan Tower and Yongdusan Park link: here.

Another thing to take into consideration when visiting this place at night is before of this lanterns.

PSHHHHH. Together pa ba lahat 'yan?! AHAHAHA!

You can walk around at a big part of Namsan Tower and you don't have to pay for any - sa mga ganon lang tayo. HAHAHA!

This is an advertisement for LG but it's like an attraction in itself.

This is also an advertisment so the 3D glass is free of use. Kinda cool though.

Love life alone sa  bridge of life! HAHAHA!

... pero hindi ko nga naman kasi kailangan ng kasama kung kaya ko naman baliin nang mag-isa 'yong upuan.

Daming picture spots in Namsan. No wonder it's a favorite spot for Seoul travelers.

We took our time and decided to just walk down to Myeongdong Area and it was a beautiful hike. If you easily get tired, ride the bus going there 'cause it's always easier to descent.

Lakas talaga maka-Kdrama ng mga pader na 'to eh.

Seoul Fortress and Seonggwak Park link: here.

Another viewing area of Seoul.

It's easy and not scary since the walkway is well-paved and there's enough light everywhere.

We found Kim Sam Soon stairs by accident. HAHA!

What I love about walking in Korea is even if you feel that you're walking aimlessly, you'll get somewhere. Well, okay, that would apply naman with any destination but the only difference is since I've watched a lot of Kdrama then there are a lot of familiar and interesting places to me even if they're not famous as a tourist spot per se.

That is the cable car. First saw that in Boys Over Flowers 10 years ago!!! 10 years!!!!!!!

Always with Lee Min Ho link: here.

Lee Min Ho was still serving in the army when we went here and we saw him five times. I've gotten over him (Park Seo Joon is my current eye candy btw) but it's still kilig that I just watch him from the television and he was right in front of me for several times during this entire winter trip.

There are a lot of signs so you won't get lost. At the end of you're walk, most likely you'll end up in Myeongdong.
