This seasonal attraction in Tateyama will open again in April 2026 so I'm posting this here just in case you need to read a review of Klook's tour packages for this place.

Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route seasonal opening date varies so make sure to check their website for updates. Our experience was last May 14, 2025 when the snow wall was still on its tallest height.

Tateyama Snow Wall 1 Day Bus Tour from Nagoya

I saw that there are 2D1N tours available but we only availed the day tour from Nagoya since our rooms were already booked and it felt like a waste to not sleep the night in Sakae. We did four day trips to Central Japan which all left from Nagoya. I mean, sanay naman sa traffic ng Manila so travelling 2-4 hours a day felt fine.

Winter vibe in May

One of the many places I never thought I'd get to visit in this lifetime.

I saw photos of the snow wall two years ago and I immediately thought it was in Hokkaido. Lo and behold, it's Central Japan and you only get like 2 months window to visit.

The ride to the Snow Wall takes a long time but the bus was comfortable. We brought snacks with us too. Eating inside the bus was allowed as long as there are no crumbs and you'd take your trashes with you.

I wasn't able to note the travel time but it was probably around 3-4 hours per way. We had two toilet breaks and had a sumptuous lunch (package inclusive) before heading to the snow wall.

TIP: Take every chance you get to go down the bus and stretch regardless if you feel the need to pee or buy snacks.

May 14, 2025

Snow Wall Height: 16 meters

This is a bus tour of the snow wall so we didn't ride the cable car. The bus parks at Murodo Station and you'll be given ample time to roam around the area/ Murodo Plateau.

Much more beautiful in person. Definitely a must-visit!

There were a lot of people in the snow wall so taking photos was a challenge. We went back the building after walking halfway.

We transferred to this area where the snow corridor is.

There were not a lot of people here. Unless you pay attention, you can miss the turn going to the corridor because at you can see, the sign was small.

The accumulated snow gradually diminishes in height as temperatures rise.

This is Murodo Terminal

Murodo serves as the central hub of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. Maybe someday I'd get the chance to see more of this Alpine Route but may the universe lead me first to Hokkaido. Hahaha!

Murodo Plateau

We knew there would be snow but we didn't expect that it'll still be this much in May.

Make sure to bring your sunglasses because snow glare might hurt your eyes, and apply sunscreen as well because snow doubles your exposure to UV rays.

This was the most beautiful yet the most exhausting place we visited during our Central Japan Tour last year.

Kamikochi in the Northern Japan Alps of Nagano Prefecture

The period during which casual visitors can come to Kamikochi is during the seven month window from mid-April to mid-November.

According to their website, this area will open again in April 17, 2026.

We joined a tour from Klook because it was the most efficient way going here. We left Nagoya at 8 AM. There were stops along the way and I suggest that you get snacks and drinks from the rest stop because Kamikochi can get crowded and you might not have enough time to form in line for food especially if you're doing Route 2.

One-Day Nature Forest Hiking Tour of Kamikochi

Before alighting the bus, the tour guide explained that there are two routes in Kamikochi. She also showed several photo spots to help you in your decision-making.

First - Taisho Pond - Tashiro Pond - Kappa Bridge (easy)

Second - Kappa Bridge - Myojin Bridge - Hotaka Shrine - Dakezawa Marshland (quite long)

Sounds of Kamikochi - Youtube Short
When I was looking at the videos I filmed, I noticed the different nature sounds in Kamikochi so here's a short one so you can hear birds singing, wind blowing, leaves rustling etc.

The places we wanted to see were all at the Second Route so we took that. It was a lot longer and more challenging compared to the first route. According to the photo timestamps, we started at 10:26 AM and ended at 1:24 PM. That's already 3 hours and if I recall correctly, we were only given 3 1/2 hours. Quite rushed but enough.

The bus will not wait for those who won't arrive on time so pace yourselves and try not to linger along the way. Some people are able to do the trail in 2 hours but we took lots of photos so it took us longer.

Anyway, in the collage above is the Kappa Bridge. Stores, picnic tables, hotels, restrooms are all within that area.

Hotaka Mountain Range

I was watching Oguri Shun and Han Hyo Joo's Netflix Drama, Romantic Anonymous and they visited Kamikochi in one of the episodes. The view above was the one shown in the drama.

A lot more beautiful in person, no wonder this is also known as "the place where Gods descend."
Also, the view changes depending on the season, we visited last May 18, 2025.

After crossing Kappa Bridge is the trailhead for Route 2.
There are rules before entering the Exploring Zone so make sure to check those out to ensure your safety.

There are bear bells in this area and while the chance of encountering bears is low, make sure to still ring those before walking along the wooden pathway.

Dakesawa Marsh

Those are dead trees, aren't they?

Anyway, I can totally see why Kamikochi's peak season is Autumn.

We saw two monkeys perched on the tree. They were busy eating and didn't mind us at all. I saw posts before where monkeys were nearer the trail though.

Feeding them is strictly prohibited.

Azusa River, Dakesawa Marsh

You'd also pass by other people who were mostly locals so prepare your konnichiwa because greeting others was the norm.

Myojin Pond

Myojin Pond or Myojinike
Addmission Fee: 300 Yen

The water was crystal clear even if it rained the day before.
Every year on October 8th, the annual festival of the Hotaka Shrine Okumiya is held at Myojin Pond in Kamikochi. This traditional festival prays for mountain safety and is also known as the "Myojin Pond Boat Festival."

Myojin Bridge

The walk back to Kappa Bridge or the Left Bank Path was easier. It's mostly gravel trail with not a lot of incline.

Field of wildflowers called nirinsou in Japanese will greet you as you leave the Myojin Bridge. Lovely little white flowers that are impossible to ignore.

Make sure to remember your bus' plate number because as you can see, there are a lot buses at the parking lot.

--- END ---

Private vehicles, including motorcycles and rental cars, are prohibited from entering Kamikochi year-round to protect its environment. Visitors must park at designated lots in Sawando (Matsumoto side) or Hirayu (Takayama side) and take a shuttle bus or taxi to the park, which is open from April 17 to November 15.

Eversince we saw pictures from Huis Ten Bosch, we've been eyeing Fukuoka 'cause FUK airport is the closest airport to Sasebo if you're coming from Manila (MNL), Philippines.

We took Cebu Pacific's 3:25 PM flight from Manila to Fukuoka.

We were waiting alongside the people flying to Nagoya. Hahaha! Japan version 2.0 choices: Nagoya, Tokyo or Osaka! <3

I've lost count on how many times I've ridden an airplane in the last ten years but the feeling of excitement while looking outside the window is still the same as my first.

Our aircraft was Airbus Neo A321. It's my first time riding this kind of airplane and it was very comfortable. You have your own USB port and the legroom/seats were more spacious than usual. The back rest are angled so seat reclining isn't an option which is great especially if you chance upon an annoying person in the row in front of you who reclines his/her seat way too much without taking you into consideration.

We arrived at the airport. <3

While at the immigration counter, I was inline near a handsome Korean guy though I didn't know who he was but as soon as we all exited the immigration counter area, a lot of fans were cheering turns out that he is a part of the group and the entire group were all there. :)) I searched for it that night and I learned that they were the K-Pop group NCT. lolz. I saw them during their concert in Gangneung last winter but I didn't recognize them still. Pogi pa naman nung isa! :)))

We claimed the pocket WIFI in this area. Pocket wifi or local simcard is a must in a Japan travel not only so you'd be connected to your social networking sites but you'll be needing google map for a lot of times especially if you're doing ah DIY tour.

Hakata Station is just 20 minutes away from the airport and we figured that it was easier to take the bus than ride the train 'cause we didn't have to drag our stuff to transfer to the domestic terminal where the train station is.

Fukuoka International Airport to Hakata Bus Station -  250 Yen.

We prepared Yen beforehand so I don't know where in the airport will you be able to exchange money.

From Hakata Bus Station, we followed Google map and we reached our hotel after around 20 minutes of walking. These countries are four out of the seven sister cities of Fukuoka and all the sister cities are travel goalssss! hahaha!

Oakland, USA - I've been here.
Guangzhou, China -
Bordeaux, France -
Auckland, New Zealand -
Ipoh, Malaysia -
Atlanta, USA -
Busan, South Korea - I've been here.

Royce chocolate shopping at the airport

Departure

Japan is the only country in all of my travelling where I bought a lot of stuff to take home for myself (and for others). I don't even remember going on a shopping spree when I was in USA. HAHAHAHA!

So ito na nga, diba! Ang dami ko ng binili. :)) Our hotel didn't have a weighing scale which we can use so imagine how stressed we were 'cause we only had 20kg each for our baggage allowance and we bought A LOT.

After checking in our luggage and learning that I still have some Yen with me, I decided to buy an Anello backpack for me and a messenger bag for my mom. Then after passing through the immigration counter and submitting all the tax-free receipts I incurred from all the shopping, THIS ROYCE STORE WAS THERE.

I knew that Royce is going to become a problem once I step at the airport counter 'cause based on experience, I tend to lose my rationality in front of chocolates (that I like) and matcha. Royce, in this case, is an overkill.

Almost half the price of the Royce chocolates that are being sold here in the Philippines, ANG DAMING MATCHA, I had more than 5,000 Yen left, MINSAN LANG NAMAN, magi-ipon na lang ulit ako pang Japan next year kung gagastusin ko 'to and all other excuses I've forgiven my self for giving in that 20 minutes shemay, gusto ko kunin lahat! hahahaha!

The very first Royce product that I've tasted but I didn't get any of it.

I still remember saving for a month when they launched the special edition Matcha chocolate here in the Philippines. <3

And when I was in Japan, I mindlessly took a box of Sakura Nama chocolate just because it's Spring. :)))

Favorite! <3

Many times while walking back and forth the store, I was asking myself if I got too much chocolates... :)) Only to realize that coming back home means I were to give my siblings and mom a box each. HAHAHA! Kk. 10,000 yen tayo next time, Royce?! HAHAHA!

At hindi pa ko natuwa rito, I got a box of Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory Crackers on the same reasoning na kasi... mas mahal siya sa Pinas. HAHAHA. While I can do without the crackers and I've tasted more delicious soft served ice cream while in Japan, I hope that I will have more budget for Royce next time! hahaha!

Nonetheless, I'm grateful for this Spring travel in Fukuoka. :)

We thought that we arrived a bit early and won't see Sakura flowers but we actually did a great job with timing our flight especially since Sakura blooms earlier in Fukuoka area.

After paying Royce, I only had 105 left with me. I decided to keep the 5-yen 'cause I read somewhere that it's considered a lucky coin. I bought some yen from my friend so I can afford a drink from 7-11. :))

My kawawang passport.

Sakura drink from SB and the best ever matcha chichirya that I got from Daiso Japan.

Can't capture it on camera but this is one of the most picturesque night flights I've had. The moon was shining bright so it was able to illuminate all the clouds unlike other night flights when I see nothing whenever I look outside the window.

Thank you, Fukuoka!!! Until next time, Japan. <3

One of the things we did right during our previous trip to Tokyo was booking tickets to Shibuya Sky as soon as our desired day of visit was opened in Klook. Tokyo was crowded and there were a lot of attractions that easily get sold out and one of those is Shibuya Sky especially slots during sundown.

Klook Link: Book your Shibuya Sky Ticket Here.

Upon arriving at Shibuya Scramble Square, we were greeted with this sign saying the tickets for Shibuya Sky were sold out for that day. It was really a good decision to book beforehand especially since this is one of our must-visits in Tokyo.

By the way, Shibuya Sky is an observation deck at the rooftop of Shibuya Scramble Square. It's only a few minutes away from the famous Shibuya Crossing.

We didn't have to fall in line for the tickets - we just showed them our QR code when the queue for 6:00 PM schedule opened. There are several seats near the entrance and there are a lot of restaurants in the building since this is also a mall so no worries if you're going there earlier because you can do a lot of things while waiting for your schedule.

By the way, check online if you got the sunset time right. We were initially getting the 5:00 PM entry thinking the sunset will be at 6:00 PM like here in the Philippines. Good thing we decided to confirm before booking upon remembering that it will definitely be later than 6:00 PM or else we would have to stay and wait longer.

It was summer and the sun rises at around 4:30 AM and sets at around 7:00 PM.

There are several picture spots in Shibuya Sky. The famous ones, however, have long queues so we decided to just walk around instead of waiting in line.

I wore that white cover up to kind of change my outfit for Shibuya Sky since I've taken a lot of photos throughout the day. Turns out that it wasn't just for "estetik" 'cause even in summer, Tokyo night at 230 meters high, was still cold and windy. Make sure to keep this in mind especially if you're coming during the colder seasons.

There's a bar at the top and there's a lounge you can access only if you buy drinks. We didn't have money nor we brought any cards with us that time so we weren't able to try.

Some areas have better angle when you're taking photos but everywhere is a photo spot.

We sat here for quite some time to take in the view and experience but majority of the time we were there - we walked around and took lots of photos and videos. haha. Japan is real, Japan is reel was our theme for this trip so we took lots of photos and videos.

Tokyo Skytree on the left, Tokyo Tower on the right.

We're hoping to go back to Japan again. If the universe permits then it's going to be Osaka - Nagoya - Tokyo again. 😅😅😅

Definitely a highlight of our trip!

Would love to go back here someday. <3

We weren't able to see the sunset 'cause of the clouds but we still got the timing right since we were able to see it during the "day and night."

You need 100 yen to operate the locker but there's a bill breaker in the area if you have no coins with you.

You're not allowed to bring a bag at the deck so you are to leave your stuff here. You can get your 100 when you put the locker key back.
